Both can be tested F2P, try for yourself. I loved the idea of DnD but disliked the slow playstyle. Playtest on this felt a lot better to me so I'm giving this a chance now.
Some of the big DnD Streamers are excited for this, some clearly wanna stay with DnD if that info helps aswell.
In the end it all comes down to personal preferences i guess.
Either way, both free. Try em out.
You also have quests to follow, people can be talked to in solo, and lore/enviornment to enjoy.
They are both free though, so no harm in trying both. I've played Dark and Darker a fair amount and was able to check this out in the last play test, I plan to play both personally.
This guy hasn't even played Dungeonborne.
The only serious take is to form your own opinion. They are both free to test.
You can like both games for different reasons.
I prefer Dungeonborne but I might bounce back and forth in the future.
Did you just say this game is clunky? Have you not played Dark and Darker and this game?
Both games a bit clunky but Dark and Darker even when running speed meta builds feels clunky as f.
it largely depends on how you define clunk
for me, dark and darker is incredibly smooth; my character always moves exactly how i want them to, hitboxes are tight, i can cancel just about any action except swinging my weapon, hitstop feels good
however, some people might find it's clunky because animations are mostly slow, enemies more or less ignore when you hit them, the ai obviously is very boring, having to sheathe weapons is cumbersome, etc etc
compared to dungeonborne, where my attacks occasionally cause me to move, certain abilities change me to third person, my character doesn't feel as 1:1 to my inputs, the camera seems slightly off in a way that visually affects the scale of the world, the input delay + fact that i have to click multiple times for light attack strings as a result of charged attacks, i definitely feel dungeonborne is the clunkier game
at the end of the day this whole thing is subjective so there's valid reasons to find either game clunkier than the other
