in 7 days to die multiplayer the main issue was that people turned up their sound so much they could hear you from far off as even opening your inventory would produce a zipper sound. It ruined multiplayer as hiding or sneaking had no more use. mind you that included the sound of the forge in your house. which they homed in on.
So I like it better without the footstep sound.
Yeah but "be alert" is kinda the problem. I walk with my cryomancer through a door, and around the corner comes a 3 man squad. I'm just dead. Didn't hear them opening a door, didn't hear them walk up. Sorry but you can't tell me thats by design.
And 7 days to die was always kinda weird. I imagine a sound system more like Dark and Darker or Hunt: Showdown. Where you hear steps if they're close enough. You should hear door opening and looting. I don't expect Tarkov level of sound design. But a bit more is definetly needed.
