Been teleported from nowhere and rip off by a russian team.
This game type will die due to dissatisfaction from the non-cheating player base (the majority) if the loot system remains as sparse as it is now. If you are kitted with blues now and you get killed by some nitwit hacking, it is a real pain in the ass to re-gear. If you could pick up a new set of gear your next run... people will be more forgiving of the issue of cheaters.
Setbacks in an extraction game are to be expected. Setbacks all the time where you lose your best gear and have to take several hours to restore it will drive off the players from boredom/frustration.
Hackers exist and are going to exist no matter what we, developers, anyone does.
The simple fact of the matter is even a large studio like EA is outnumbered 1 employee to a few thousand players. Even if an employee was only outnumber by 1000 players and only 1% of 1000 players creates cheats (10 players) for a studio like EA that's still 100+ different cheats they have to combat all being developed independently with the single goal of overcoming a single anticheat.
It's just not realistic to combat this kind of community. It's the same issue the Indian Government has with Scam Callers. These guys are numerous and even if you take out one cell or call center, another one crops up the next week. It's like battling Entropy.
It sucks, and I wish we could have a magical solution that stopped any and all cheating but that's not realistic. It's never going to end, and ranting and raving about it on steam discussion boards doesn't help. It just bolsters the egos of these cheaters.
NOTE: I did say CREATE cheats, not use them. The users of cheats well outnumber the creators. If you factor in how many reports a company gets about legit and non-legit cheaters the volume is impossible to realistically handle. Everyone thinks a game dev can snap their finger and magically make the problem go away... if that was the case there wouldn't be any cheaters. The reason that this has grown into such a problem is because it's impossible to stop. Year after year more and more people get into cheating or creating cheats for one reason or another... it will never end. It sucks.. but what can be done about it? The answer: Nothing.
