That was the portal you gotta activate. Luckily the Tree could not reach me to attack me and i extracted :)
Tbf its kinda fun so far, but didnt go against big bosses yet as i got starter gear xD
This creates a system of "the floor is lava" so instead of skillfully subverting enemies, you are forced to just back off.
TL:DR - Enemy damage isn't the issue. Its trash hit boxes.
Honestly, and I don't mean to sound like I'm brushing off your criticisms, repetition is key. Attacks are slow and the more you see them the less likely you'll be to get hit by them. You will learn to just walk around enemy attacks and only players will be a worry.
May I ask which extraction games you played ? Because out of all I played PvE mobs here are the most trivial. DaD is a whole other level. And there are so many portals that you always find one unlike in DaD.
I mean a weapon upgrade from green to blue can be like 30-40% extra damage and an upgrade in armour for defensive classes can be like 10% or more damage reduction, even more with sockets and good rolls. And you CAN get hit mid animation and it WILL hurt if you don't have well statted gear but it wouldn't be much of a game if you couldn't get hit and it didn't do much if you did without investing in defensive spec gear. And blocking with a shield DOES take damage if you don't have a purple shield... But it's 3-5% damage.
I can't really imagine asking for more damage than that out of a single tier of weapon upgrade, or more armour than that for a single piece of armour, or for shields to take even less than 3% damage, or complaining that i can be hit if I make mistakes and that it will hurt if I do. This wouldn't really be a game at all if we were getting double damage per tier and 20% DR per piece and getting hit was near impossible and didn't hurt much if you did.
It's both the lack of MMR and the bad balance of the PVP, with the added aspect of poor balance with the in-game Economy. It's a demo though so it's to be expected I guess, but things seriously need to change if they want to release EA and definitely for official release.
