Combat feels a bit arcadey but it's fairly tight. Games seems maybe too PvP oriented for my tastes and will probably lose interest in it over the long run for that reason. Lots of potential that probably won't ever be fully realized.
For a free loot extraction game, i don't have many complaints. Different story if i had to spend money though.
>cash grab
>free playtest
make it make sense
Just like Greed is Good, this game isn't gonna stay free for long
Can't hear no footsteps.
Combat lacks impact and is a bit too arcadey for my taste.
But I love parry and thrust which DaD uses too sparingly.
Please remove the bots.
PvE is trivial.
DaD has the better skill & class system.
The game is better in many aspects over DaD. Especially level design, graphics and QoL are far superior in Dungeonborne.
The ingredients are all there. I hope one day someone does a proper recipe.
this concept doesnt work, if you let everybody fully test your game for days.
and it is far away from being a cash grab, its in a early state yeah, but nobody said it isnt.
Out of Video Memory on a 4090 ???
Looks promising but work needs to be done, hope to see it improve
Character creation was just erased when i confirmed it.
Entzered a mission and somehow my controls (mouse view) turned into some sort of tank mode, where using my mouse to look around worked in a way like a controller, only being able to perform either looking up and down or left and right, but nothing at the same time like diagonally.
Entering training mode worked fine.
Performance went from stable 60 in training to constantly dipping below 40 in a session even though i had DLSS on.
I have Gsync but still get screentearing without Vsync.
Hitboxes on monsters are bad, hits often not applied although it goes physically through them. I aim at an enemy and charge an attack, then my character charges and hits above it for some reason.
Environment has solid resolution and sharpness, but my characters hand textures look like from a game from 2006.
I spawned in a wood spawn with 6 enemies directly attacking me (two bats, a moose and a few of those flying bugs), and i mean directly spawnattacking, to then be shot by a player who obviously had no enemies.
A major part of the experience is the trading, the inventory management, the selling, buying etc, that seems to be not well done, as you start with 0 gold.
I dont understand these developers motivations.
I hated Dark and Darker because it played incredibly low quality, janky and clunky.
Bad movement, bad animations and combat felt awful.
Dark and Darker comes off like a game created by premade assets in about 3 weeks.
It does here too.
There are so good and fun melee combat games to take inspiration from.
Why pick possibly the worst melee combat experience i ever had in 30 years of gaming (Dark and Darker)?
Well and then all the Anti Cheat and Data Transmission nonsense im not so fond of.
So overall, it could be good, but its as jank as Dark and Darker thus i dont like it.
Dark and Darker and this game have severe problems with lacking quality.
And its the low quality of both that pushes me away.
Sorry, i expect more polish from my games and better gameplay.
The mechanics are fine, but a central element is the combat, which is absolute garbage in both.
