My game runs at increased speed, it's too fast to play.
So all the clocks in the game run faster than they should, the seconds played timer and the in level countdows all tick about 3 times faster than they should, I thought this was part of the game, like it was meant to be super fast and hard but I watched a gameplay video and saw the timers all using real-time seconds so I figure it must be a bug on my PC. I really like the game despite it being 3 times faster, I thought I was just bad at it but turns out I'm playing some super hardcore mode because of this, anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Occasionally I'll start a level and it will use the correct speed for a few seconds before going back to triple speed. Also the menus are really fast, like it's hard to go down only one level in the acheivment menu.

I'm using a 144Hz monitor with an R9 290x. The problem persists in fullscreen and windowed with a variety of resolutions.

I've changed the games launch settings and I've set different command line arguments as well as playing around with AMD driver settings, some things work for a few minutes but the game always goes back to triple speed. Can we get a fix, I'd really like to play this game.

Hi,

Your monitor's refresh rate is the problem. Velocity®Ultra is designed (at least I think it is) to work in 60Hz. In order to play the game properly just set your monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz when you want to play, it should play normally at 60fps then.

Thanks, that worked perfectly, might be the solution to a similar problem in some other games too. Very strange bug though, must mean timers are using a tick instead of realtime clocks.

I'm glad I could help. ^_^

Yeah, maybe it will fix other games with similar problems too. :engineercat:

If you have Nvidia you can use Nvidia Inspector to permanently limit the FPS to 60 FPS for just this game instead of having to switch the entire monitor's refresh rate every time you want to play.
