Early access in and of itself is a scam, plain and simple. How many times have we seen a game be released in EA only to never get finished after a sizeable chunk of people paid for it in hopes it would see a complete release? Far, far too many.
True
Most early access titles are from very small teams or even just lone developers. Which can mean a high personal cost in making a game. I imagine that is the case with these guys. I've never heard of them and this is their only game, and yet they made more expressive faces than Bioware did in Veilguard.
If you feel it's not worth it to you that's fine, but I don't think it is an unreasonable amount of money for a small indie developer to charge for a game that looks as good as this.
There is more planned content too. From the early access tab on the store:
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“In addition to bug fixes and improvements on balance and core gameplay, we plan to add more events, quests, activities and characters. We also plan to expand the exploring world.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“In early access, you can play the main storyline of Pine Harbor. Open World is available for explore and fights.”
So you get 2-4 hours of content now for one playthrough, with more content to come, and if it is a game you like you can replay it more than once. All for $12. Doesn't seem that bad to me.
