Demo Review + Walkthrough tips
So I finally managed to get through the demo. I'm not good at horror games.

The method to complete it is simple: trial and error. The game does not tell you anything about sneaking so here is all you need to know: if you crouch you can get around most enemies. If an enemy is heading towards you crouch and switch off lantern, he will go past you no matter how close you are.

That's it. That should have been explained to the player. The monsters are actually blind. Getting past them without making noise is the easiest way to beat this demo.

Items / Locations / Spoilers:

You need 4 things to collect: wiring, gas, a key, and a code for a safe.

Rooms:
Safe code: B5
Gas inside safe: B1
Key to A4: B6 (toilet)
Wiring: A3

Also make sure to scavenge rooms B2, A1, A3 and some others for ammo and healing should you need dit.

Get the key and the gas, start the generator in A4, then just get to the northest part of the map. Rewire and start the thingie.

Pros:

+ wonderful atmosphere
+ excellent sound design. The monsters really frighten you with their groaning and moaning
+ nice looking game and enemies

Cons:

- general stealth / survivor gameplay. Too many enemies, you simply cannot fight
- sometimes monsters block a path you need to go on to get on with your mission so your only option is to shoot them down drawing more monsters which is a quick way to die.
- Guns feel weak, ammo is scarce. Yes, I know it is supposed to be hard but once you attack an enemy you probably have to deal with another or two other ones. You are killed while tryling to reload.
- very little number of props used on the map....same rooms, with same equipment, same walls etc.
- UE5 is very demanding on the hardware. The game looks good but not that good. Needed to play on low settings to have a playable framerate.

This demo is your final game's commercial so I would work on it a bit more.

- You don't need a tutorial but somehow make the player understand how to properly sneak.
- Rebalance ammo / weapon damage / enemy number and sponginess
- "you picked up the item" really does not help, and the things you need to collect are not found your inventory...(wiring, gas etc.)
- optimization for mid-low end systems

Wish you success with your release!

Hi, thanks for feedback, can you share you PC specs?
szederpg Nov 24, 2023 @ 10:04am
Intel Core i5-10400F
Geforce Gtx 1650
8 Gigs of ram
Win 10 x64

Yeah pretty weak but I can still run other UE5 games on high or mid-high specs without problems. Like Soulslinger.

well, for me game was optimised well,UNTILL I flipped switch to epic.
2880x1620 @ALL HIGH /vsync on /100 lock frame gets stable 98-100 fps.
EPIC HOVERS AROUND 82-86 Ocassionally drops to mid 60's - that would not be issue.Issue is when game paused (esc to menu) - 86 flat frames , tested 30 min in menu, without touchung keys or mouse.....GPU UNDER LOAD FOR 3O MIN ,working hard - but without real work done. Have no special profile created for this demo, Usually I'm the one who makes game to work on max, but when in menu all games wind down.

Please make combat not be useless.
Why i have 2 Guns when using it is useless? To many Monsters, to less Ammo.

Game runs without an problems.

32GB Ram

I am running a I7-10700K CPU just like you and only a 3080, WIN11 with VSYN On. I am using a 3440x1440 monitor on EPIC settings and I had a solid 100fps (max monitor allows) the entire time I played the demo. I mean it never dropped, even in the menu. Not sure why you were having issues. If I moved the "screen" setting above 100 it instantly made the frame rate drop. Once I set to 100 it was perfect. Honestly I could not really tell the difference from Screen at 100 or 200.....suggest keeping at 100 or less. FOV at maximum too. Might be the "screen" setting causing issues but I don't know since you did not state that.

As others have said the enemies just killing you without any explanation was annoying. Should put some "how to" in the game.

And that you can run while crouching as fast as when you are sprinting is nuts. And the respawn is nuts too. And the enemys are dumb as hell. If you crouch you are safe. But I love it anyways! It has potential. Listen to your community and the game will be awesome :) I get some darkwood vibes just in first person.. :Darkshroom: :Darkmoney:

Unless they added this stuff in the last month...

The first thing you need is the diary and in that room the writing is literally on the wall. "They are blind". You're supposed to have too little ammo, part of the difficulty is finding the right path and cutting it quickly. Shot placement is also key. This isn't a shoot-em-up game, it's a puzzle/horror demo. Going straight from the generator to the electric door will get you ambushed. Going around the B side to the other corridor is very easy. Having some basic FPS skills like both guns being loaded and being able to alternate quickly is necessary. You can make a dash for B5 and safely pick off your pursuers. Aside from the very washy controls, I think the difficulty of this demo was spot on because it forced you to think.
