I love this style of game... but
The california style of streamer ADHD dialogue...

If the game plays well I am still going to like playing it - but its absolutely getting tiring...

Yeah, the game was pretty good. The dialogue that's heavy on zoomer jargons and modern rhetoric was absolutely immersion breaking. Riordan was especially grating with his juvenile antics that seems out of of place and out of time.

There are multiple ways to convey "youthful and clown-like" quality without using modern zoomer jargons. This is probably the few times that it's actually logical to invest in a proper writers instead of whatever this was.
Far too many games do this these days, and I have no idea why it appeals to some writers because it just comes off as very childish. If a setting / characters do not take themselves seriously it is immersion breaking.

Mind you, I am biased as a dark fantasy writer. So I have a low tolerance for "random" and spontaneous humor and lightheartedness.

If you're whining that games are woke, that's pretty sad, bro.

Seriously, I can't think of a more pathetic way to "criticize" the game than whining it's not racist and sexist enough for your tastes.

There's nothing keeping you here. If you're such a weak and fragile snowflake that "woke" triggers you so bad, you don't have to stay here and keep whining about it.

There's nothing "woke" about this game as far as the demo goes, so shove your toxic ♥♥♥♥ somewhere else. This thread was not about that, but the overly cliched zoomer dialogue writing that doesn't fit the theme of the game. Modern jargons like "rizz" has no business to be in the game like this and it just really cheapen the quality of the game and breaks your immersion at the same time. I don't know who the target audiences for those dialogue and writing style is.

Those Who Rule has another "clown-like joker" character and they somehow managed to create a dialogue and writing that fit perfectly for their dark low fantasy settings.

Wow, your complaint is literally, "There is a black guy and he's important," and you think you're not being racist.

Just ... wow.

Looks like someone forgot to take their chill pill this morning. Maybe take that "BurningStick" out of your you-know-what.

I agree. Modern-day slang has its place and a game set in a fantasy world far removed from Earth isn't it. My best guess is that the writers are appealing to the younger generation.

I don't know if you're just making this up as you go or you're trying, poorly, to rage bait
but neither of the games had zoomer dialogue.

I would like to briefly interject in this intellectually stimulating discourse to inform everyone that Dark Deity 2 and Those Who Rule have the same writer.

Aforementioned writer here - The demo has some of the lowest stakes chapters in the entire game, and thus shows the cast at their most carefree. Nobody says "rizz," so I'm not really sure what that's all about, but they *are* joking around a bunch before the situation gets especially serious.

I'll be the first to admit that not everyone is going to vibe with that kind of banter-heavy dialogue, but the banter is limited to when I felt it was appropriate - if things get serious, the jokesters know to shut up and treat the situation with the gravity it deserves. DD2 can get very very serious, far moreso than the first game even, so the carefree dialogue's not a constant fixture of the writing, I promise, hehe.

You've said elsewhere that you're swearing off the game entirely because there isn't enough fanservice, so I'm going to give this comment all the respect it deserves. Ahem.

lol
