Well it's off peak hours in main markets. Compare it to BF2 original this collection is trending around 100 behind it always with lows and highs at same time of day. Just check again in a few hours.

I bet they didn't even think of putting out an update sooner. Maybe you could apply to be an official adviser.
Really though , they have been updating the servers constantly since launch. it's only the 4th business day since launch in which all the legal hoops they have to go through for each update has to be approved by the higher entities (Whoever owns aspire, Disney, steam, and for each console). It is still in Aspyr's financial incentive to try to save face on this game, even if just for their own image. That is until have to move onto other projects. They are a business.
I have been having a lot of fun playing online since just about 2 days after launch. It's not perfect, but if it launch in this state most everyone would be happy enough. I don't regret my purchase, but I understand why others do.
It's their fault for messing up the game. But it's the community's loss for having no patience.

Not that I would particularly care, but BF2 (2005) can be played not only on Steam, but also on GOG. Both use the same servers, but logically only the players who play via Steam are displayed under SteamDB. In reality, however, there are more.

"only"? Isn't it a bit sad that the brand new version is only 200 ahead of the 20 year old one? You have to take in to account as well a proportion of the collection players are on BF1 so in reality they could be equal/above the collection.

Every game gets a huge launch-day spike that they usually never reach again. Let's see what the numbers are like this weekend, not on a Monday or Tuesday mid-day.
