Was There Invert Y-Axis in The Orginal?
I could swear there were options to invert Y-Axis like nearly every game ever made. How does this NOT have something as simple as that?

Invert Y axis for flying does exist in this.

But not for literally anything else? Like every other game?

Well for me the only reason to use inverted is when piloting a vehicle so I dunno what to say. Using inverted controls for a FPS seems insane.

The original games had options for Invert Y Axis that are absent in the collection versions.

Right, but there is an option for invert y axis for the space controls. At least that is something.

True but that doesn't explain or justify the removal of the rest of em.

Honest question. Who uses inverted Y-axis on shooters? It seems insane that you'd want reversed controls in the type of game where precise movement is key.

It makes sense for vehicles/planes because that's how it actually works IRL.

No one cares about your opinions. The matter is the Original had options the Collection has removed. This is completely unacceptable and should immediately be patched back into the base game.

Thinking about it more I guess it actually makes sense to invert on a third person shooter. Much for the same reason that you'd invert in a vehicle. Since the camera is behind the character its easier to act on the character rather than act AS the character. But I know people who play FPS using inverted controls and I just don't get it there. Seems counter intuitive.

Well aren't you a happy little ray of sunshine.

None of this has anything at all to do with what you "get" or "don't get", This is an issue that is unrelated to you entirely. As it stands, this was in the Original and is unacceptable, in the large amount of other issues by Aspyr, that it has been removed in the Collection.

Ohhhh I see. I see where I made my mistake. I mistakenly assumed we were in the steam forums and not the bug report section of aspyr's website. Silly me for assuming making a topic in a forum would/should result in discussion.
Man, how embarrassing.

I've been playing inverted in FPS games with controllers and trackballs since 1998, and still play competitively online doing so. Fus1on Gaming CS:S 2004-2006, USAE CoD MW 2019-2021. There's a massive community of us invert-Y gamers. Especially those of us who grew up in arcades, on PC, N64, PS1, DreamCast, and OG Xbox, where a lot of games' default controls had inverted-Y.

The entire anatomy of the human body's muscle contractions work on whats called Inverse Kinetics (IK).

That's wild. I must have just blocked it out or something because I don't remember ever using inverted controls on a FPS. I do vaguely remember playing Quake on my friend's PC and having to change their controls but I don't think I ever gave it much thought.

Is the general consensus, for this crowd, that having one set of control options is ideal? I know when I play flight sims I use inverted but revert to normal if I'm on foot (in a game like no man's sky, for instance)

Non invert works on the concept of moving a target around the screen, Invert works on the concept of your character holding a weapon and tilting it on an axis, where the butt of the rifle is down to aim the weapon upward. It's not for everyone, but a huge amount of people are very skilled with this, and it's why it's in nearly every single game ever made... But this version.
