can you play all the battlefront 1 maps in battlefront 2?
It really wouldn't make sense to have two separate games on one installation. for example not being able to play Bespin hero assault because heros weren't playable in battlefront 1. I would actually buy this game at around $15 and if it simply ported the best of 1 into 2.

Well it does because they have different gameplay.

the gameplay isnt that different and 2 is the superior version. The only thing better in 1 is the maps with derivable ships.

Agree to disagree. A lot prefer the first game.

No, only four of the BF1 game's maps are present in BF2. This includes Bespin (Cloud City, not Platforms), Yavin Arena, and Rhen Var (Harbor and Citadel).

The game play is vastly different between the two games.

I would say the only thing BF2 improved over BF1 in terms of game play is that it sped up projectiles. In BF1 the blaster bolts were super slow and you could easily dodge them if you were more than like 10 meters away. And in BF2 they let you swap classes at command posts without having to die and respawn.

Otherwise a ton of stuff in BF2 was a massive downgrade from BF1. For instance grenades no longer have knock or any real blast radius which made them pretty useless. Vehicles and turrets were nerfed to the ground and feel floaty. They lost all AOE damage, and barely do any damage in general.

The AI in BF2 is completely brain dead compared to the more dynamic BF1 AI. Best example is on the Polis Massa mission in BF2, if you go and take the command post behind the enemy they don't know how to turn around and recapture it. Cause the AI is pre-scripted to move only from command post to command post in one direction rather than dynamically react to different command posts and hunt for enemies like in BF1. For instance let say the Republic starts off with command Posts #1, #2, #3, and the CIS have command post #4, #5, #6. If you play as the Republic went and captured command post #6 in the rear, and just let the enemy AI capture all your starting command posts, all the CIS AI would just constantly head toward command post #1 and once they reach it they just stand around doing nothing, vice versa while all your Republic AI would just be standing at command post #6 once they reached it.

There is also horrible anti-player bias in BF2, where no matter how good you are doing in the match the game will just always deplete your reinforcement count (by killing them off of screen) to make it seem like the match is even. For instance I used to play instant action with 500% reinforcements, which meant each team had 750 reinforcements. I would kill like 700 enemies in a match and some how be last man standing or win the match by like 10 reinforcements. While in BF1 there was no anti-player bias, certain maps were just in favor of one team over the other. Where even if you did nothing as the preferred team on the map you could win with like 150+ reinforcements left. Or if you played on the underdog team you could actually completely turn the match around by doing good and capturing certain command posts and effect the outcome base on how many enemies you killed. For instance on Hoth in BF2, I would be in an AT-AT as the Empire and be massacring the Rebels as soon as they spawn, have 300 kills within 5 minutes and somehow I am always losing by like 50-100 reinforcements! Where as in BF1 on Hoth if I killed like 200+ enemies I would probably bw winning by at least like 150+ reinforcements left out of 250 as the Empire. And the Empire in BF1 was considered the underdog faction cause they would normally lose due to having less command posts every tick, the AI teammates in the AT-AT constantly die due to snow speeders, and AT-ST get annihilated by the AV turrets. I tried playing a match in BF2 on Hoth where I didn't really anything other than snipe for an hour and saw that my team was always only losing by like 10-50 points in reinforcements. Which confirmed my theory, that the better you do in match, the quicker the game just kills your reinforcements off screen.

There other differences like BF2 adding playable heroes, and improving the galactic conquest mode, and adding space battles. But I won't get into that stuff since those are new features rather things that can be compared apples to apples.

Overall I would say BF1 is definitely a more polished feeling game, BF2 added a lot of good quality of life stuff, and new features, but a ton of stuff in BF2 was a heavily downgrade, which made BF2 more of a sidegrade rather than a upgrade to BF1.
