I'm sure this will work fine for small games but I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't include their own dedicated server files. Seems like an oversight.
like seriously, ya'll need get heads examined.
Its ironic that you're telling people to get their "heads examined" when in reality your completely misinterpreting the situation. Were talking about hosting dedicated servers from an actual server, from a CLI interface with zero GPU requirements. In order for this to be achieved Aspyr will have to release the files for SteamCMD, as the game uses steam auth. Similar to other dedicated server utilities that the original Battlefront from 2005 and the GoG re-release utilized.
Maybe do a little research before you insult people.

This is very good info, hopefully they will drop something a little more robust as time progresses. Thanks for sharing.

They need to provide some official tools. But the main problem is that you can't play and host a dedicated server at the same time (until they release it on GOG where you could run two instances). You need to buy the game twice with two accounts. There has to be another option.
My fingers are crossed for SteamCMD support, I really dont want to host in a Windows Environment.
I think I was assuming wrongly this was a in a new game engine? I would have never thought to try the old tools. At any rate it looks like progress is being made and that's very exciting to me. Hopefully Aspyr releases some tools or the modders beat them too it, the game will be in better shape then.
