So let me get this straight…. BF 1 and 2, both which work perfectly fine and are always on steep discount on Steam…. Have been re-released in a collection with no servers? Aren’t there a bunch of servers readily available in the original ones? What is the point of buying this collection?

Accessibility. I can start the game and not mod or alter anything and it will work. The old games require some work around. I didn't play the old ones on PC, but I have tried Republic Commando which was around the same time frame. It was not pleasant to play due to the issues with newer systems. I dont think i could ever get a controller working and ultrawide never worked either. I would think Battlefront is very similar in that respect. I'm glad they are keeping some of the older titles alive in this way.

If they altered the gameplay people would complain and if they don't people complain. They cannot win. I am excited about it and ready for the better functionality and accessibility. I am also pumped for the increased modding capability. If you don't like it (probably because of price) then just wait a year and it will probably be half off for $15. That will be a steal. These games were fantastic. The new ones sucked in my opinion.

From what I saw on this forum its debatable

''Accessibility'' You don't have to mod anything in order to play original you can play fully vanilla with no problems.

Does not require mods for work on win11 insider, a significant drawback is the expansion of the menu in OG2, which does not change the gameplay itself.

You see, there is none. People are talking about ''Nostalgia'' but we have original version so whats the point in buying this? It's just idiotism+consumerism. There is no chance that person with high education, university diploma would buy this

I cannot play the original despite owning them. They do not run on my PC without a workout mod and they do not run on the Steam Deck natively.

New version?

Runs perfectly fine on PC and Stram Deck. Controller support+ dlc included and new game modes.

They did the most I'd expect in changes while keeping the game exactly the same. Saw someone complaining about how outdated and stun locks exist. Yea, that's how the game originally was. This isn't a remake nor a reboot it's a HD re release made to be consumer friendly

They also fixed / added features that were not present on the OG PC release, which I personally consider essential, such as

- Controller and Steam Deck support
- Ultrawide support (3440x1440 works fine for me) and fixes related to ultrawide, like I couldn't play the OG on my ultrawide even with 16:9 and black bars, my crosshair wasn't aligned when shooting for example
- Console menus which are far better than those ugly PC menus

Given its current state, it simply needs a patch to address the few issues

Actually they are more likely to buy it since they are trained sheep. I hated all education and almost never buy games that are trendy.

The original BF2 or this re-release? Because no I have not played this re-release. I own the original and have had no problems with it before.
