XL mode was part of the vanilla game, but only on the PC. The collection will bring it to consoles for the first time. Mods are only necessary if you wanna play XL on more maps than it originally supported.

And yes, 64 bot limits also exist in the vanilla Steam releases already.

64 vs 64 is the XL mode, which is available both online and offline.

Pretty sure you had to mod it to work online in the original Steam release. If they made it available in online on this collection that's dope.

You can play online multiplayer right now with the originals on Steam. We do not enough know how mods will work in this Classic Collection.
