Should i get this on Console or PC?
i love this game but the thing is its no secret the PC version of Battlefront 2 (2005) is a pretty yucky mess on modern hardware and things get worse the higher the resolution you play. Ever since gamespy shut down there has been so many old games i wanna go back and play like ArmA: OA and of course Battlefront 2. I recently went back and played galactic conquest in 1440p and it was really not great, the menus were a mess. bugs like elite weapons would be bound to my save file with no ways to fix it.

is there any news on whether they've fixed and updated the game to work on modern hardware more effectively also will these servers they're using be more snappy and run better than the original games. I would like to think they'd have it running on pretty modern servers.

i would like to get this on PC but i can already see the toxicity brewing and fact that the PC community as much as i prefer it for the games its community is the worst in gaming. Cheaters ruin any game that comes out on release, The attention span of PC games is second to none and a games population will die off instantly

Usually i buy everything on PC and use my PS5 for story/exclusive games. This just seems to me like a game that is gonna be far more appreciated by the Console community where as the toxic negativity of the PC community will do their best to ruin it since they can't ever have nice things

oh no, more veterans who will destroy me easily and slightly less cheaters??
look good, just like something i could do on the originals for free???
for 15 dollars more than buying both the originals????
and for them stealing a community mod for the OG Xbox DLC?????

hmm... nah, i'll stick with the originals because 15$ for community mods to be built into the game, probably scuffed high-res support, and only 1 new feature (steam deck support being that feature) isn't really worth it

"oh, they only have 39 games listed on their profile?? must be poor"

or, i don't play all my games on steam? a small library doesn't tell you anything about me or my finances, neither would a large library

ever used services like good old games? origin? epic games launcher? clearly i don't need to have 300 games on steam if im only gonna play 12 of them often enough

a rich person can have a small library, a poor person can have a large library

is it small because the games i own, are games i actually want to play, why buy a game if im not going to play it ever?

ever used CDs? i bet steam can track them, oh wait, it doesn't

or is it that you think steam is the only game service that every single person on earth will ever use for games?

or is that you are jumping to conclusions because my game showcase has btd6 with 3 and a half thousand hours on it?

or is that i don't have many badges?

you know what would be a bigger indicator that im poor? a private userpage...
oh wait, seems im taking fire at you, am i now?[prnt.sc]

I can settle for both but the PC version may have modding which many will buy versus the console version.

original also supports modding, for classic collection it's going to be done by a third-party mod launcher, original game you basically make a folder called addons, and then go to nexusmods and download whatever you want, then DRAG and DROP

i already have the old version multiplayer doesnt work ever since gamespy went down unless you're willing to jump through hoops and even then its a laggy buggy mess due to it being dog water servers. it sucks on modern hardware, im on a 1440p monitor and i have to fiddle with resolutions in the game files just to make the menus usable. i think this is a good thing for the game. When gamespy shutdown they didn't just take the servers offline they wiped them there's no way to bring BF2's multiplayer back without totally rebuilding the game thats what this is.

I'm assuming with the new multiplayer framework its going to run better than the original too in terms of tickrate etc since it wouldn't make much sense to deliberately go out of your way as a studio to replicate servers from nearly 20 years ago.

it's a tough one for me on this matter. i would love and prefer the game on PC but the lack of excitement and overall negativity surrounding it already is depressing to see. £23 for 2 classic games with fully function multiplayer with tones of fixes etc is a pretty small price to pay. regardless of it (kinda) existing on pc you'll never bring an influx of players back to a 20 year old game for absolutely no reason. This is that reason. people would love to revisit this game but in its current state on PC why should they? £23 or even without the discount is a small price to ask for 2 games with modern servers. if i can get 30hrs of fun out of these to experience playing multiplayer on a game i never got to back in the day they hey thats well worth it. you have absolute delusional morons who spend that money on nikki minaj skins and eminem skins on fornite and cod in one foul swoop.

i think more classic games should start doing the same. i'd happily pay £25 for Battlefield 2 with modern working servers with 60hz tickrate just to experience playing something like that from before my time. i unfortunately didnt have internet during the rise of these classic large scale multiplayer games and my god do most of them look more fun and interesting than half the garbage we get these days (from a gameplay perspective of course)

honestly thanks for all the help peeps. i think ive made my mind up imma go with the PS5 on this one. from what i can see everyone on there is super excited to play this game with modern servers. even though i suck with a controller but it'll be pretty funny giving it a go lol. i'd rather be playing with a community that are excited rather than a community hell bound on tearing it to pieces.

Yes, I knew that even though I never used them but I like the option as it gives the player more options to play.
