What will happen to the original steam versions of the game?

But I only own BF2 not BF1 so I guess I’m only getting one out of the collection

based off my experience being almost 17 years on steam. the old games will be delisted off the store page. you will still be able to download them if you own the video game prior to delisting.

The hyperbolic response would be. "They will take your old games away, and force you to pay to play." I am tired of people asking this question, and guessing as to what will happen. We won't know until the game releases. Whining about it ahead of time is a waste of effort.

Frankly I'm amazed they haven't been delisted already - and not because I think they suck and deserve to be, lol. Just it's weird people are being given a "grace period" to snaffle up the OGs if they didn't already own them when there's a new version in town. Normally publishers / developers are not that nice.

I don't see why not. Use Mass Effect as an example. Bioware released Legendary edition but you can still purchase the original PC versions through steam. Same with the remakes for Battlefront 1&2 by DICE, the originals were still listed.

Given how greedy they are being for a glorified update it wouldn't surprise me if they delisted the originals.

It won't. All you get for owning both is an extra 10% discount combined with the 10% existing pre-order discount. So you just get 20% off. I'm not too worried cause I got 1&2 a few years back on sale for a total of $6.

if you only own one of the two you get the extra 10%. I don't own Battlefront on Steam and my price is $28.01. I want to say we might get a announcement as to what the situation is for us soon.

considering EA is the publisher of the originals my guess would be they stay up, because they are greedy and want more money and I doubt they get much if anything from the new releases since they are not publishing it.

They are currently doing a loyalty discount if you own the originals. But they won't be giving people free copies it looks like. But honestly even just a discount is good enough for me, and I'd gladly pay for this collection to be able to have actual full controller support and proper resolution support because let me tell you playing the originals is beyond rough at this point.

Guaranteed, Disney is going to delist the originals from Steam, just like they did with their Disney Classics Collection on GOG, to force people into the higher price. So, buy the originals if you don't own them already.

it would be cool if original owners of the 2005/4 games get a free copy of the collection edition, but nope, because disney and lucasarts need more money
