^This. Although with working splitscreen, there is a chance that the Galactic Conquest Versus mode will finally function as intended. Allowing players over splitscreen to engage in GC against each other.
How do we know which games support this or not? Unless they all do? How is latency anyone know?
According to it, it does indeed support Remote Play Together.
Though due to the nature of the beast, i bet it only works with two controllers.
Original games weren't 64 bit compatible or able to use controllers natively, and they got that ♥♥♥♥ working. Don't act like their hands were tied, they had software engineers and gave developers on hand, plus free access to the original source code. They looked at the expected cost and return on it, and decided they wouldn't give it to us. Hell Mount and Blade: Bannerlord has an entire team of volunteer modders that are adding multiplayer campaign to it, despite the game being in active development and never planning to support multiplayer.
It 100% could be done. It is 100% intentional on their part to not do it. Whether you think the reasons they won't are justified or not is up to personal opinion.
thats why games get delayed alot of the times.
again its just a port so they arent going to try to get things to work, and personally i dont see how gc could work online when it wasnt intended for online play iirc.
Adding online network replication to a gamemode that did not support it on an archaic game engine that was clunky even by 2005 standards is NOT something that is possible in most cases. You don't know what you're talking about.
Multiplayer functionality is one of the most complex things you can do in a game, yes, even more than adding controller support or porting it to 64 bit. It's not an on/off switch, it's not an easy drag n' drop thing, you need to literally engineer the game and the engine from the get-go for it. There's a reason why not even us modders have done it in 20 years of modding this game with Pandemic's own tools.
Impressive how much you missed my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point. They COULD have done it. They COULD have rewritten conquest mode from the ground up to use online features. They COULD have remade the game in a new engine. They CHOSE not to. They CHOSE to just slap dash an upgrade to the 64 bit, controller changes, and just adding in the DLC stuff to PC and calling it a day. I bet most people would have been willing to pay full AAA price for a full rebuild with new online capabilities.
But they just went with the cheapest, quickest, least risky option on their part, and made it half AAA price instead. They could have done morez and they decided not to.
Also I have seen volunteer modeers force online coop play to work on games that were never built with ANY online play in any capacity before. Skyrim, Breathe of the Wild, Rimworld, and Bannerlord all come to mind off the top of my head. It is absolutely something that can be done, and it is absolutely soemthing they chose to not do.

What are you talking about? At the 8:30 mark, he explicitly says it isn't online, only offline
