Wait wait. AI upscaled graphics? And this is a remaster? What?
Okay okay.
So I have not been able to find good information on this but I'll just say if this is true I am absolutely disgusted. (Information I have read online and have not properly looked through if it is true or not. Correct me if I am wrong I currently don't have the time)

This game deserves a remake not a lazy AI generated remaster.

Remake - When you RE - MAKE the game from the ground up so no original code is used

Remaster - Where you make the game look slightly better with some slight control changes. Uses original code so it is more lazy and quick to release. It's like taking a dinosaur and colouring it silver.

From what I heard this game will have AI upscaled graphics and new multiplayer servers WHICH the Classic game on Steam already has (it already has multiplayer) and here is the worrying part. Anyone here heard of the GTA definitive edition and how it ended up? Anyone remember?

When this cheap AI generated remaster releases both the Classic BF2 and Classic BF1 will be delisted from Steam and again it is likely that they will shut down the servers for them too! So guys if you already own them be happy to be forced to buy an inferior version of the game you already own because you'll be forced to unless you don't care about multiplayer being shut down. Greed. Absolute greed. Actually it sounds more like lazieness and greed.

The best part is that they didn't even bother properly compressing the game like THE ORIGINAL DEVS HAVE DONE ALREADY! Standards people! STANDARDS, please. 50GB for a fossil of a game... The classic on steam only take 4.3GB by the way.

I keep seeing online people coping on this saying that "The remaster has multiplayer" when meanwhile the classic BF2 which is on steam and the old BF1C both already have multiplayer and people have already made mods which REMASTER THE GAME for you with little to no input needed. And they make the game look and sound amazing! There are even mods which add in the missing maps from that whole XBOX 360 exclusive stuff. I watched a huge ton about it too!

And by the way it is more than likely that If you were to compare how modders remastered BF2C to the Definitive edition of Star Wars Battlefront 2 classic which is of course still coming out you would see it would not be worth the money. £30 on Steam... I will be very happy to be proved wrong and just to see it being great but from the things I heard... I am not hopeful at all. It's just sad... This game deserves a remake not a remaster...

Imagine how fantastic the game could be if it was remade with new mechanics! Bigger maps! (Maps are already decently sized)

It would be so cool! But no. We are stuck waiting for a lazily made remaster. With AI upscaled graphics. I do know I will not wait for it. I'll just keep playing my own copy of it on Steam which I'll hopefully still have access to. Modern gaming industry.

I had some great times BF2C. I hope players on console will have fun with the Definitive edition of BF2C.

This not a remastered version. This just the original ps2/xbox game with a few changes. I stay changes because they are not really something you would update or change drastically for remastered version. Besides there already is an updated version of these games on the ps4/5 and Xbox one s/series x. It would not make sense to officially remaster the original games. If there was no newer battle front games, I would say they should remaster it. However the intent it bring back a classic with exclusive forgotten content not big updates. It's not really updating graphics like halo anniversary.

I know there is the 64 multiplayer functionality but that might be the only big change but who knows they could change a lot of little things people are not thinking about or forgotten. Or add exclusive forgotten content.

I know original there was an pc version of the game back in the day of starwars battle front 2 the had exclusive bespain map and ventress/kit fisto playable hero villain. I remember being mad that only pc had access to it back in the day. The bespin maps however were on the first one but you couldn't be a hero/villian. There fighting styles were unique compared to the rest. If I recall correctly Ventress had a nun chuck light saber.

Some of this content will be released to finally play since a lot of people never did.

There are some differences between the two games that they could make universal in both. The difference between bf1 and bf2 was that a few maps titles were the same but places like geonosis had changed the layout drastically or some were exclusive to the first one like Ren Vahr, Yavin 4 (second temple map I think), Bespin cloud city, bespin with ships, Tattoonine Dunes, Naboo fields. Another thing that was exclusive to the first was you couldn't be jedi or sith but you can still have one on the battle field that basically would not die unless you knocked them out of the map with a rocket launcher. Whether they stay true to the first bf or alter it to have playable hero/villain is up in the air. I know most likely they will keep playable heros/villains of course for bf2. Another difference they could adapt to both is the rolling feature. In battle front 1, you could roll only sideways never fowards and I believe you had to hit the jump button instead of the crouch. In battle front 2 they changed it to couch button to roll either side and made it possible to roll forwards. I personally like this set up on BF2. Whether they alter the first one is up in the air. Also the boost in running and spaceship flight was only ever available in battle front 2. Of course you could go faster in battle front 1 but there was no boost. That could be another universal change. Also the first game never had space flight so there was no tilt functionality for spaceships since the spaceship maps were upright orientation. They could add in the title function and speed boost in both maybe. There was tons of glitches in the battle front 2 especially Mos Eisley. They might patch those because you could go through walls and hide in buildings to prolong a game by keeping a command post from being captured. For example, I used to go inside the wall of the bar in Mos Eisley as engineer to while fixing the health droid to heal and kill the enemy from inside the wall trying to win. The campaign was a bit different too. Also the super battle droid was never in the first as the main rifle class. The two extra units unlocked after a few points was only ever in bf2.

They could make all these universal in both games or keep them distinct.
Maps for both
Map layouts?
hero/villain in BF1?
Rolling functionality
Boost for both?
Flight tilt?
extra units in bf2 only?
Patch glitches
Campaign distinct?

I remember Lord of the rings games had similar issues on ps2. The first game was just the a 3rd person semi open world. It was okay but they redid the second two towers with part of the first one in it. It was much better. Better action but the camera angle was different. They initially intended gandalf to be a playable character in the second game. I know because there was exclusive content on the game after beating it you can see the devs play testing the game as gandalf. It was such a tease because I thought you could somehow unlock gandalf but turns out you couldn't. I later found out the reason was why is because the devs thought gandalf would have been too over powered. I eventually did see they did have a secret Isldur character that was unlockable but it was just Aragon with more armor. I would have loved it if the released the game again with gandalf added to the few playable characters. They never did it. Instead they made gandalf a playable character in the third games return of the king, but it was not as good. In my opinion, they could have re-release the second lord of the rings game with gandalf. Similiarly the devs for battle front classic collection could do the same with these many but slight changes.
the problem with the servers now for the OG versions are that its the same 3 maps. i look forward to online Galactic conquest with a few friends, and servers that actaully play all the maps.

I was surprised to see the price was so low. I verified this during making this post. I expected it to cost at least 40. On console I heard that is the price. I'm glad it is cheaper on here but I don't really have a reason to buy it. Both the old games are gems.

Yea looking at gameplay and graphics of this vs the older versions I see no point to buy this version.

It might have smoother shooting, but that is about it even with the slightly updated graphics it just doesn't look all that different except lighting.

Anyone saying someone should buy this version is insane and thanks to videos on youtube they can see the direct comparisons and question on what Aspyr even did to this collection except for lighting.

I fully agree. It's not about the price. It's about the piss-poor graphics update that doesn't look much different from the original PC version, the more than doubled GB download, broken code leaving the game full of clitches, and the lack of additional content (ive heard the advertised "new content" was previously released as a bonus pack to the original XBox version?)

I was originally excited when I saw they "remastered" this game, but the final result is lackluster at best... just buy the original two games if you haven't already, or keep playing them if you have. This isn't worth it.
