Where do you find official information about the old games getting removed from the store? Where do you find official information about the old games being unplayable after the release of the Classic Collection? Where do you find information about the old servers shutting down because of the new release? ....
And yes, the old version already has multiplayer. But even the biggest fan of the old version should be honest enough to admit that it often works poorly (netcode). Getting visuable hit confirmations withount any decrease in health feels more common than normal hits in the old version.
I really enjoy playing the "OG" BF2, but please be honest about it´s flaws, because there is a lot the Classic Collection could improve. These things are also currently speculation (no one knows whether and, if so, what changes were made to the servers, netcode, etc.), but if there is speculation, please do so in both directions.
I personally don't share the opinion that remasers are fundamentally bad and only exist out of laziness for not creating a complete remake. But of course there are different opinions about this.
We all (justifiably) have criticisms of the Classic Collection, but it's not all bad about it, on the contrary. And it doesn't really help to spread rumors and speculation to make the game look as bad as possible when it might not be the case at all.
It would be better if we concentrated on the points that can actually be criticized in the final release, so that these can hopefully be improved in the future.
This post was motivated by worry and not well checked sources. The main source was a youtube video with a bunch of angry commentators raging. The part about CBF2 and CBF1 being delisted part I assume is going to happen mainly because I saw Valve delist CS GO and replace it with the new version of CSGO and the servers being shut down I have not experienced. I have seen games being delisted and seen a player base dwindle to nothing but this was an experience from a game called TABZ (not fantastic game which was delisted from Steam. Still accessible if you look online). It has been a while since I played CBF2 because of life.
I have never seen a remaster in my life which doesn't have issues... The one horrid remaster which I can recall is Bioshock... Oh God...
This is not even close to comparable. CS2 "erased" CSGO because it was essentially a giant update to CSGO, not a separate listing. You can still play CSGO by opting into a beta branch under CS2.
The Classic Collection is not replacing the old Battlefronts, it is not an update for the original releases, they are still here on Steam as separate titles.
TLDR:
"I hate AI and I don't want AI to touch my games because it personally offends me"
I mean here's the thing, does it really matter how the graphics get upscaled? AI upscaling is improving every day and if it makes it possible for games like this to get a modernization I'm all for it.
I dunno about you, but I'm not buying this for the graphics. I'm buying this for the compatibility with modern systems and controller support. I've always thought these graphics look just fine (IMO I think shooters should have simple graphics. I hate modern graphics with a passion. Way too detailed and I get lost in all the foliage and whatnot).
