Bloomtown: A Different Story

This game feels like it is wasting the player's time.
About to fight the boss of the first dungeon, and while I don't think the game is bad, I will ask for a refund. It is just. so. very. sloooow.

From combat animations, to weird delays before you can choose dialogue options, to unskippable workout animations. I would very much like an option to speed up animations mid combat, and skip certain animations outside of it.

It is also incredibly annoying that you don't get to see what kind of item you are getting from a chest. Is it a weapon? Armor? A consumable? Who knows! Go to the menu and find out!

Speaking of menus, maybe I'm just blind, but I couldn't find a way to see my character-specific abilities outside of combat. Only the ones you can give them by equipping a demon.

But the worst offender is probably how often your moves miss. Every third or fourth attack misses. Which means more slow combat animations. Plus, if you are deliberately trying to down all the enemies to capture rather than kill them, it means that you are now gonna take a lot more damage, simply because your attack whiffed.

I don't think this game is bad at all. The story is intriguing, the art and music are great, and I don't hate the combat system.
It just feels like it is wasting my time at every opportunity.

I will, however, keep an eye on it. If most of my issues get fixed through patches, I will give it another chance!

Hey there Kuchenjaeger. I've also responded to your review, but I think responding here is a good idea to ensure you see it. 🧡

We're sorry to hear that you feel that the game is too slow for your experience to be enjoyable; I am happy to let you know we are currently working on a patch to help with this.

An upcoming patch we will release in the coming weeks will include an option to increase combat animation speeds by two or three times. This will help the combat to feel more speedy and improve your general experience.

Regarding the rate at which moves miss, we have already implemented some changes in previous patches to improve hit rates, such as removing the demon's evasion stat and improving the accuracy formula to reduce the number of misses in combat. With those changes, the rate you should miss your target should be far less.

Regarding the feedback about loot and menus, I will ensure this is passed on for consideration.

Keep your eyes out for future Bloomtown patches. Any new patches we will release are posted here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2445990/discussions/0/4843148393997591337/

Best of luck in your demon-hunting adventures!
