Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - v3.260.0 - standart
2016.09.16 22:34 - 0x00C578FCA

I probably can go ahead and say that im not new to this game, ive bought it sometime in 2015 and played about 200 hours. Ive had no issue playing the game in the 3 years now that I own it but sometime around 2016 I deinstalled it due to lack of space and me being burned out. I wanted to give it a try again in this year 2018, because it is a really good game if you're bored.
Now ive ran into this issue that makes my game crash on save or autosave.

Ive tried multiple solutions on threads and none seem to work. The troubleshooting thread from the offical makers of the game also didnt give me any help at all.
I hope someone can help me figure out this issue, because it is really annoying.

Specs : GPU : GTX 970 Nvidia
CPU : Intel I5 4670k 4 cores
SSD : 500 GB ( stored on this )
RAM : 16 GB G.Skill ( 4 sticks )
OS : Windows 10 ( I used to play on Windows 7 with no problems )

Ive you had this issue aswell share your fix aswell, I would refund the game because I just cant play it since there is no way of turning off autosave and it just crashes my game with first a Filestream error and then the named error above and I have too many hours played.

Hope anyone can help me out on this issue, if not im going to write them an email if I can.

LG

Strong chance it is your anti virus or malware software causing this problem. To be more specific it's the ransomware within it most likely.

Try turning off the ransomware in settings or if able make an exception for the men of war exe. or whitelist the men of war exe. Hoepfully this should fix things for you.

No this is similar issue to what is being bought up, something about a png or jpg messing the game up. Others had issues with the save game screenshot jpg, look at all the other posts in troubleshooting and general discussion. Win7, Win10, antivirus off, set to run as admin, read about lots of stuff but the most common thing I see is that this is happening to Nvidia GPU's.

I had the same problem myself. It was the ransomware in my anti virus blocking data. Even when I turned off real time protection on the anti virus, the problem still persisted because the ransomware within it was still active.

I can imagine video cards causing crashes & what not. I don't think they would be the culprit behind the save break.

Best way to rule it out is if you uninstall your anti virus, restart rig & see if the save function works. If it does, Reinstall, whitelist or kill the ransomware function. Obviously I suggest just whitelisting it though.

Just tried whitelisting and uninstalling the antivirus, still got the crash at the start of a lot of maps and the one while saving.

You get crashes at start the of maps T-Bone Biggins. While loading or after ? This sounds like a different issue. What type of crash, black screen crash ?

Upon reading your error closer you do get a different one.

As you an see this error happens when it seems to try loading a specific asset. Yet this same error occurs on saving a game, except the asset pointed to is the jpeg screenshot the game takes upon saving to display on the save/load screen. I think that is what it is. It happens when saving, autosaving on missions. The .png file referenced in the error above happens on skirmishes and at the very beginning of the introduction mission on Tarawa, and the .png file is nothing but a tiny gray square just a few pixels big. I have reinstalled several times and from different servers, so it's not a corrupt install. Ran as admin and all that like people said.

The similarity to your error is that your error involves a save file jpeg. I think all these errors with various image files might be something related to a problem with the last update, that and all these errors seem to crop up on computers with Nvidia GPU's. If you r-click on MOW Assault Squad 2 in Steam, go to Properties -> Beta menu and select the prior patch you will likely find the game runs just fine without any errors. This seems to be some issue the last update caused.

I've never had a game give me so much trouble than this one over the years. It's annoying because it is a good game so persistence is required.

I'm running with an AMD card so I'm not familiar with the current Nvidia related problems. Reading leenygo's isssue sounded identical to the one I went through. Which was down to the ransomware blocking data.

I use IObit for system protection. I have Malware fighter & advanced system care anti virus. I whitelisted mowas2 on both programs for it to fix the save break. That was whitelisting in the ransomware settings & not the normal settings.

Only this week I've been getting freeze/ black screen crashes in gameplay & then when attempting to launch after a system restart. I'm hoping that it's sorted now. I followed these steps :

1. Find MoW AS2 in your steam library
2. Right click and select properties.
3. Select launch options and enter exactly as follows
-reset_cloud_profiles
4. Now locate Documents / My Games / Men of War Assault Squad 2
5. You will see a profiles folder, rename this folder to anything you would like i.e. profile2
6. Launch the game.

I will have to further test with more gameplay but so far so good.

I hope you all you guys find a fix. It's a bloody challenge to get this game functioning for a lengthy time before it breaks again.

I've already done the full cloud reset, as well as fully deleting the my documents folder and game installation folder. The funny part is I had no troubles until I installed a newer GPU and did a fresh format. This computer runs better than ever after the format, everything runs great, only this game gives me trouble. And it is exactly THIS game I wanted to play the past several days, quite a pickle I'm in.

I feel your pain T-Bone Biggins. If you believe it's GPU related. I'm sure your driver is up to date. Have you tried using older drivers just in case the newest one is a problem maker.

Nothing helped me, well exept for the ransomsoftware. The problem is that I have absolutley no Idea on how to disable it for AVG, a quick google search didnt help aswell.

I have two PC's, both with the same latest Nvidia driver. The PC with my 960GTX runs fine, the PC with my 1060GTX has this crash. The funny thing is both the computers have the same antivirus as well, both run the same OS, just one is my lower spec secondary PC I let my family use and the better one the game cannot run on is my higher end gaming rig.

Try this Leenygo: (Manage blocked and allowed applications)

I keep getting black screen crashes. Sometimes on launch but mostly in gameplay. Doing my nut in. The cloud reset works for a short period but then the game keeps falling back into it's old crashing ways again.
