Is it native or a wrapper/emulator thing?

Surprised a Linux version of this hasn't happened yet given CoH2 has a Linux port already!

What is surprising about it? CoH2 have larger development team, publisher and money.

They released "Battle of Empires : 1914-1918" that is basically the same engine so this should not be so far in the future indeed.

If they are even working on it. A proper Linux/Mac port takes resources they can put in other projects, and in the end you have 3 platforms to support which takes additional man hours away.

On that note Battle of Empires recently introduced(well at least i didnt have it last year) the goold old "out of sync" bug we all know and love from Men of War Assault Squad 2, good luck with squashing it in due time.

Who are "they"? BoE have different dev team and publisher. Also both games use completely different not compatible modifications of Gem2, with different priorities and owners.

BoE uses BestWay Gem 2.3
AS2 uses DMS own modification of Gem 2 that despite not having multi platform support is probably by far ahead in everything else brining benefits to majority of players.

We encountered OOS errors on BoE from an issue which has been fixed already. DMS encountered another OOS issue and got fixed. Out of Sync has been here on Gem2 since way before you can think of. It's not a specific error that pops it's head up in the same spot and all developers must tremble over sooner or later. They are caused by a vast array of code that must work together, and most often than not they can bring problems until further work is done to finetune it so it is flawless.

We are indeed planning to support OpenGL in the future. However, that won't be possible for the release version of the game. Maybe a few months later, but just maybe.

Is it still planned?

I really hope so. Some quite old games have suddenly gotten ports to Linux so I'm not giving up on this one just yet.

I pretty much own everything they've made but I'll stop buying them now I'm pretty much exclusively linux based. Origins needs a port too, come on DMS! :) :steamhappy:
