Help with reloading/ammo

I put about 200 hours into the first AS, so I'm used to the reloading system. However this game changed it up a lot and your units constantly run out of ammo. Literally, they last maybe two minutes before the red icon flashes. I know and use the ammo drops (parachuted in) but is there a better way or ANY way to KEEP them resupplied without having to destroy your units and groups every time by sending the whole group over to the ammo box? Even if you send a lone unit you have to stop everything, move the camera, run over, open inventory, take ammo by using Shift or Ctrl, close window, move camera, run back to group... by then they are dead and out of ammo.

This game is fast-paced in some areas like defense and the developers in their infinite wisdom decided to add a VERY TEDIOUS process of supply during a battle and it totally kills the pace. I'm playing on Hard with Fog Of War turned on, if that helps.

In the next update your units will auto resupply when they are near a supply drops or ammo trucks.
