What the HELL is wrong with Super Pershing's armor?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=347701784

Total hits:
IS-3 : range 110 - 5 HE
range 60 - 2 APCR (green)
range 20 - 5 AP (green)
KV-2: 20 HE shots, around 8 hit, no kill but damages (why is this thing so OP again? I had two and they could hit didley ♥♥♥♥, would've been better with 203....)

Question: What kind of a WW2 tank could tank so many shells without collapsing on itself? Answer: None.

Strange since Strat29 posted a vid where KV2s would annihilate Tigers from a distance.

its a secret.

Lol HE shell against RHA of 115mm sloped would not penetrate. The tank became blue print for the Patton Series tanks.

^HE shell of such caliber does not need to penetrate. Especially with so many hits.

A single 152mm AP shot from 1200m that ricochets from Panther's uper glacis. Now show me pictures where a tank was still standing after around 20 different 122-152mm shells hit it as far as point plank ranges. Good luck.

Besides even when the game itself was saying that it was supposed to penetrate (green), absolutely nothing happened.

That strat video has nothing to do with this thread. Check out my screenshot again and count the craters. I'm also talking about Super Pershing, as I've never seen even German tanks tank so much HE other than a King Tiger (and its armor thickness is the reason why). German guns also don't have so much problems taking this tank out too.

The howitzers hit ♥♥♥♥ like trucks because the shots were that far off. Even the US M12 Motor carriage was more accurate (had no problems hitting my IS-3 constantly to the point its hull got destroyed, or hitting KV-2s). The shots that did land crippled the tank to the point that only the hull was OK. Frankly that's not good enough.

I don't think there is any kind of metal/armor fatigue factor in the game man, I think its just can penetrate, chance of penetration, damage caused.

The thing is, a long time ago all the way in the closed beta, the devs did say that there was some kind of a new HP system put in place. I know that there is such a system for HE shells and it has been there from MOW1 (but it's very random in my experience)

I hate COH and their HP system, but dear lord this is ridiculous. Especially when the game itself says that the gun should penetrate, yet does diddly ♥♥♥♥.

Have been cases of king tigers and kv1's taking massive amounts of hits in real life, what would be the difference? To consider one thing aside from being a video game, a larger shell has a far lower velocity than a smaller one, or the fact that rolled steel doesnt seem to crack when hit by larger bore weapons (unlike the germans who didnt use rolled steel and it would crack even if it did not penetrate). If you ever see a SABOT round, the penetrating rod (..haha..now move on...) are only like a quarter inch rod with a soft outer core, and hardened inner core, and they penetrate extremely well. just food for thought.

^ thanks captain obvious
now take a look at that screenshot and try to explain it.

Sometimes the game just goofs up. I've had a chaffee get penned by AP rounds literally 8 times before and nothing happend to the crew or the vehicle. Sometimes the system goes wonky. You also can't use real life arguments to compare a video game too closely. YOu'll go insane

yeah i know the crew injured/hull pierced thing, i once hull pierced an oswind 8 times in a row with a t-34 57 before the game said "ok ok, you can have that kill...you ♥♥♥♥!"

but this is not really the same, it shows as 100% penetration and yet ricochets all the time, no matter which AP shell I used. then the fact that it tanked so much HE........................

So how comes KV2s can blow up Tigers from far distance?
xenon Nov 28, 2014 @ 3:26pm
The same reason why a howitzer can one shot a tank sometimes.
And this thread is not about KV-2.
Jack Nov 29, 2014 @ 6:07am
So the Pershing can take several hits from a KV2 up close but a Tiger cannot? Pershings can withstand artillery fire?
xenon Nov 29, 2014 @ 7:20am
¬8x152mm HE, 5x122mm HE, 2 APCR, 5 AP with 100% penetration.

Vehicles have an explosive threshold. If an explosive has greater power than that threshold value it damages the armor. Armor also has a explosive force health value. Once all health is gone, armor is destroyed. This system is most commonly seen with TNT being placed next to vehicles but also plays out with the larger caliber HE shells.
