Enemy and Friendly Silhouette (Editor Question)
Can i turn off the silhouette?

Its really lame when my units "see" an enemy and the game highlights it BRIGHT RED.

Trying to make an urban map and all i see are either blue or red units in the buildings and it takes away from the "realism".

Im in the editor and ive been using it for a long time but i cannot seem to find an option to turn it off.

I think i remmeber seeing an option and that it was possible but idk.

I have googled it but cant find a solution (if there is one).

Please devs tell me theres HOPE !

Well you dont even need to know any key shortcuts really for that, just hit F1 mode and click the silhouette button on lower left (red/blue human icon).

but that would only affect me right?

If i want this to affect others they would have to do it themselves?

What im asking is, can i disable the silhouettes in the editor so that it happens automatically to everyone playing this specific mission?

What do you mean others? This is a client setting, so if you make a map and mod whoever plays it can turn it off or on as they please.

I think he wants to force every player to have it turned off by default. Like setting FoW to each difficutly level.

Except a player cannot switch FoW on and off as a client option, its usually forced by server/game mode, while this option is true client side setting.

Exactly. I want the setting to be permanent to everyone who plays the mission. I dont want it to be an on/off option.

So im starting to get the feeling its not possible :/

It wont affect your mission much, you can force realistic fog and any soldiers player dont see wont show up this way.

I think he (like myself) likes the more realistic approach where you (and all other players) don't see red and blue soldiers fighting each other. And he wants to preset it like this for every player. But since it is a on/off turnable function I don't think its possible.

The thing is, the soldiers are still visible if the camera is unlocked and they only show the red/blue if they are visible or noticed by player units. I know what he means to basically have player not see units through as a helper info, however this is built in client side option just like hightlight items or bodies, except those are not on by default.

Yes ! It kills the emersion when i can spot red units through a building or foliage.

If it were possible to turn off it would force a player to move slowly and check all the buldings/bushes one by one for enemy units.

Well thanks for the help guys!

Realistic fog works a bit better because you wont see those red soldiers through wall once you stop seeing the soldiers visually and they dont fight or fight one of your allies/other soldiers of your units, further you can asee all your friendly units so it minimizes chance of driving over some of your units. You can imply for players to turn that option off on their end though.
