Direct Fire/Indirect Fire Switch
Hi guys

Any plan or way to implement, officially or via mod, a Direct Fire/Indirect Fire switch ?

There were many weapons able to fire in both ways during WWII, an example is the M10 below

Yea that would be awesome for the Flak18 as well. It was often used as a artillery gun. But I guess those units would be kind of OP then.

Indeed, games tend to make us think there were clearly distinctions between Direct Fire and Indirect Fire weapons,that Direct Fire weapons could not fire in Indirect Fire and vice versa, but many WWII weapons were used in both ways, I posted the M10 because I think will surprise many to know that it was projected for Indirect Fire too, with a proper aiming system to fulfill that purpose too.

This would be a very welcome and usefull feature, I feel a bit weird for example when using a Panzer III.N, to be forced to fire via Indirect Fire even at very close and clear targets, with consequent horrible accuracy of firing for Indirect Fire when not needed to.

I think it would make just such weapons more usefull, not OP, as when switching to Indirect Fire/Direct Fire stats should change in accuracy, penetration power and range

If it's balanced right - yeah.
On the other hand, wouldn't it create more artillery standstills. Too much indirect fire makes the game awful.

Unfortunately, not possible with the current weapon system. You could add a 2nd gun to the model with different settings but then it could fire both at the same time. No good solution to do this...

uhm yeah I was talking with Sturm and he had a similar idea, to spawn another gun,but there are troubles, can't you make the previous weapon disappear ?

it look like an hardcoded thing that only devs could eventually implement uhm because yes stats need to change from the trajectory, to range, accuracy, Kinetik etc
