Armor penetration is simple math, I don't see the big deal. You have to know what units you're sending against what.
Performance issues have been well noted.
Just use an AT grenade or Bazooka to blow the side of a house up if it's really that frustrating.
=)
Armor penetration.... yes I know... but I think it is more of a luck factor. How else would you explain my 1shot of a veteran tiger from the front? While some other time you can hit it several times from the rear and nothing happens.
Yea ok but that doesnt address the problem I see there. Really. The "nonreaction" of the AI at times...
2) Takes experience in knowing what tanks have good penetration/armor/angling etc... check out strat29 for tutorials on tanks. Also take a look at my youtube for gameplay. Most tanks benefit from angling, and hitting tanks in sides/rear is typically better. Depending on the tank though shooting at mid hull is not good, for ex: sherman you want to hit in the turret or under front glacial. if you shoot at mid hull from front and its angled it will be hitting the slope and possibly bounce. Use APCR when possible < 90meters. Try and stop before you fire or you will not shoot with accuracy.
Was your tiger angled? What was shooting it?
3) Cease to play with wooden pc's. If host does nothing inform them as they likely do not know... if they still take no action than leave the lobby and join another game or host yourself. easy fix. The potato pc players will either upgrade or stop playing multiplayer or go play matchmaking lol.
4) The noobiest noob mistake of all noobs in mowas2 is to put all their troops in a house. Flamethrower or at grenade will teach them. 20/40mils or even ap sniping the house will also help. Shoot at roofs to knock buildings down. Or dynamite... or just run your tank into the building. Literally there are 20 different ways. Whatever you choose, do not send your troops in.
1) ok will try, I usually rush them to cover and they start shooting too, but I would have thought that double clicking an enemy would make my troops rush to him and once possible open fire... is this not true?
2) cool will do. yup I know most of this stuff, from World of tanks mostly haha :) but I mean really sometimes I have an armored tank and get one shot from the front, maybe lots of bad luck on my side. Will check the guide though :)
Tiger- as angled you mean not facing the shooter by the front armor? Nope it was face to face, that is why I am so confused about it and it was the 450MP gun from max. firing distance...
3) thats what I mean - matchmaking. Thats where it is a problem. in hosted games I always check it but thx ;-)
4) ok will try next time :) I always tried to brign the house down with PAKs and alike but it just wouldnt crumble... willl try the AT next time :)
2) You may be using the wrong paks. A lot of armor pentration values are based on what units you use. For germany the first two paks are sort of useless for killing medium tanks. The Pak 40 is the only good pak for killing medium tanks. Distance always comes into effect. The enemy uses HE shells to kill your AT guns. HE shells don't really depend on distance, as they just explode no matter where they hit. AP shells however get weaker over distances and through material. Try to move up your AT gun as close as you can to the enemy tank without it spoting you next time to cause the most damage.
3) I actually made a thread on blocking low bars from joining your games. For now the best we can do is to automatically kick them whenever they join a game and block them if they continue joining.
4) I enjoy when enemies are in buildings because they make for easy kills. The easiest thing you can do is get a SMG to throw an AT grenade at the building and make a hole so that you guys can shoot him (or even kill him if the AT grenade lands next to where he is). If he has a whole squad in a building you can buy a flame thrower and burn them all out. If the building is on fire everyone inside dies unless they leave the building in about 5 seconds.
Another thing you can do if the enemy constantly goes into a building that you have already burned and blown up the front half with AT grenades it to buy mine disposal crew. Mine disposal crew are extremely cheap, costing only 50MP. It comes with 2 guys, each with 2 TNT. TNT causes huge explosions that will collapse buildings in seconds. Buy these guys, place down your tnt around the building in question, and it won't be a building for much longer.

Armor in this game works almost like in War Thunder.
Game provides information about thickness of armor for each part of the tank, however you also have to consider slope of armor and additional slope if tank is turned that will increase the value. http://www.wottools.net/
Game also provides information about gun penetration for AP rounds on different distances. APCR have higher penetration value over AP but less maximum range and have higher chance for crew injure/kill than damaging tank it self. HE or High Explosive rounds doesn't lose it values over distance but it depends on the round size.
If you using direct contorll it will show distance and penatration value for it inside of green/yellow/red box when you aim unless host turns it off
green can penatrate, red can't
(you can see it in Judska video)
3) I wish they made this game DirectX11 only so people on potato PC won't be even able to open it...
4) AT Grenades, TNT, Flamethrower but don't run in the house... just like with 1) units will have to enter house, stop and aim when unit inside will just shoot at anyone who is entering and SMG and auto rifles become supper deadly in close combat.
2. I think you just faced a super heavy PAK and i dont know if this isnt obvious, but use the right ammunition f.e. You can destroy a pershing with a puma if you hit it from behind with apcr.
3. Totally agreed.
4. The game is supposed to be micro intense but a good way to clean a building other than throwing grenadesin windows manuallyor blowing it up completley is using a flamethrower.
You are perfectly right my friend! Everything that you tell, from penetration simulation and retarded squads that only run to an enemy when double right clicking (cause if they already see the enemy and you use single right click, they yell like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but do nothing else) then stop in front of him saying something like: "Oh, hey..., hello", and then they die because they say "hello" for until they are actually being shot at dead.
I don't know who are these ignorant who are replying here and don't see the problem as if it never happened to them. Instead of helping and recognizing what is going on they blame you or me now probably as well for telling this.
This game is so filled with bugs here and there that people don't even see them as bugs anymore.
Sometimes when you move an AT gun close to various scenery objects, either in direct control or by double right clicking them to go somewhere and they find a path between scenery objects, you most of the time hear an: "Aarghhh". Then you see that your At gun has stopped from moving and ask yourself: "What a heck?". Just to notice that one of your AT gun crew just turned into a blg red splash on the ground. A wooden box that he mistakenly stepped on kills him=)). An innocent little box or other small scenery object kill your infantry randomly. This is so terrible and it's more terrible that nobody wants to recognize these big time problems.
What a hell is wrong with you people? Haven't you played enough to see these things happening or what else?
The same thing with vehicles. Your tank can turn the biggest buildings to rumble just by touching them, but sometimes they get stuck into a microscopic little rock hidden somewhere in the grass. NOOOOO! They CAN'T CROSS THAT LITTLE ONE! It has MAGIC POWERS and NO TANK CAN RIDE OVER IT=)). How did Digitalmindsoft evaluate and test their own creation? Or did they ever do that and only shot this unfinished game filled with bugs on the market, looking just for money and hoping that no one sees the crap in it?
Another very unrealistic and annoying for players with reasoning and logic is the fact that the visual range is actually very limited. Very often you see a whole squad spawning just 10 meters in front of you while they are running (so they weren't prone) and instantly stop, aim at you and kill your squad, vehicle whatever you had before you understood what just happened. Why can't the developers let you see any human being, vehicle or any type of unit from as far as it physically can be seen, the same way as it is seen from very close range (from where eventually you are able to spot in this game)?
Would this mean a too challenging game for those who only like to sneak because that's the only strategy and way to play they have? To abuse the fact that you can crawl your infantry in plain street and nobody sees them from 20 meters away? Sorry to call it, but this is disgusting and not enjoyable as an RTS which claims to be realistic.
I suggest this:
Disable the option of being able to see silhouettes (this has nothing to do with reality and it's simply an IDIOCY PROMOTING FEATURE) and completely disable the invisibility of any unit. IF YOU CAN SEE IT IN REALITY (and the size of our maps isn't high enough to not let you see that far) YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IT in this game as well, if it's meant to be attractive. This thing of "ghosting" units that appear and disappear just like in World of Tanks due to some non sense behind Digitalmindsoft's way of understanding physics and visuals in general is simply very annoying.
To those who will answer me something like: "learn to play" or "this is the way is more competitive" I telly you this: NO, it's not competitive in any way and I know how to play with very good results even as it is. The way it is right now is just useful to those who learned tricks that can only prove valid in this wannabe game, but not for true players! I don't have to change my playing and tactics style, cause I know exactly how I want to play and how to obtain what I plan. It's Digitalmindsoft or it's developers who should change the game mechanics and get them closer to real or at least to what they pretend they are looking to achieve, which apparently they do not, besides dealing with the stupid bugs that plague the game.
Regards!
The best part about this is that these are all still issues that happen way too often for ♥♥♥♥ that's been going on since release lol.
I've played since the original MoW, so I don't want to hear the "angles, and penetration" and all that nonsense. I'm more than aware of all that. The game has always been bugged and broken in certain aspects, and anyone who says otherwise is simply lying or delusional.
Don't get me wrong though. I still play the game. Still love it, even though I just came back after years of not playing. But let's be honest with each other:
The AI is a joke. One of the tooltips says they take the "shortest path when ordered to move." They, in fact, take the stupidest path, whether shorter or not. Had a guy who had to literally go directly across the street, and he chose to run around, right through the middle of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ battle going on at the end of the street...lmao
'Fire at Will' works maybe 70% of the time and that's usually when they're ridiculously close, and don't give me the "make sure it's not yellow." The guy can be 30 feet from my units and they won't fire sometimes. I've literally had scout cars roll right up into my base when it's defended by a plethora of guns, tanks, and infy. Not a single shot taken until he RAN INTO AN AT GUN AND IT FINALLY SHOT. I watched the whole thing happen in complete disbelief lol. Wish I recorded it. It surmised most of the issues I have with this game lol.
For a game that's got a really frustrating and unforgiving camera system on the SP content that comes with the game (I get its based on the map), the difference "angles" on terrain makes are ridiculous sometimes. I've had to move a tank to a completely different spot because a relatively flat 20x20 apparently has no appropriate "angle" from which I will be able to hit the intended target, which is at the other end of this flat field. Even though, by all visual appearances, the tank is barely off kilter. Same applies for AT and basically anything that doesn't lob it's munitions. It would be a lot better if the angles were easier to determine. Especially if you're using any kind of mod that enhances distance, you're often pushing yourself into range of the enemy, defeating the purpose, because you can't get the right "angle" in a bloody open field lol.
What else? Ah, general inconsistency ties everything together. Aiming in Direct Control is a good example. I understand you're not going to get pinpoint every time, but when the aiming system shows a good hit, you should make contact at least 75% of the time and without question from a standstill and within short to moderate range. For example, I can go into a tank battle and have it turn out exactly as I expect (I get rushed from behind, I die and vice versa), or, I can pull up on an enemy tank, blast him in the rear armour or from the side with a clean 10+ AP rounds, and I still get blown TF up. I can have one 5 man infantry squad survive a whole game, or I can have the same squad wiped out by one single enemy infantry unit, simply because ♥♥♥♥ doesn't want to work how it's supposed to. If I have unit's in a building, a lot of times they won't engage at will, even when facing out of a window looking towards the enemy. The enemy will rush the building and can land shots on my guys inside, killing them without them firing a single shot.
I will say that I find skirmish games, for some reason, to see these issues a lot more frequently, but I mean, even the SP campaign's still suffer from the same stuff.
Now, this isn't griping lol. These are things I've accepted as facts over the years. I still played the hell out of the original and this game years ago, and I'm enjoying it since coming back. It could just be 10x of a more enjoyable experience if it felt consistent. I think that's the biggest thing cuz it's like you want to learn from a situation, but the next time you encounter it, the mechanics won't behave how they should, so you're fighting the AI and the game to make it work how you want it to and nothing ends up working. I get frustrated fighting the game to behave as I need it to in dire situations. Still lots of fun though. Especially with a mod like #valour.
Even though I've seen the player base is incredibly small and people hated on it, gonna get Call to Arms soon I think cuz I wanna pay for another game that apparently still has all the same problems above (and more from what I've read lol). Nah these are really fun games, you just gotta get past some of the "rickity" behaviour at times and accept they aren't completely polished.
