Men of War: Assault Squad 2

The use and deployment of Reserves?
hi all

i was curious about the use of reserves. very often i spread all units along front line, combined arms.
trouble is, somtimes an anti-infantry veichle (flak) rolls up and poofs all my infantry in 10 seconds before i can react with AT.

situations like this leave me thinking i should'nt have put all forces up front at once.
too often i leave high value units right up front.

how would you / do you use reserves?

i'm trying to figure out army layouts which require least micro-management possible.

for example, the use of selected rear reserve checkpoints/bases.
a chosen spot behind the frontline, which fresh units are sent and wait in safety until the situation calls for them.

possible Unit-flow:
-off map unit spawn
-rear checkpoint
-support weapons / Armour
-Frontline (layer 2): inf support eg. medic, sniper, LMG
-Frontline (layer 1): Assault inf, Riflemen

Would be nice to to have drills for organized retreat. for the division be able to effectively fold back in on itself in the event a team-mate loses and a flank gets exposed.

let us know if you got any ideas.

hold the line and secure the flanks with regular infantry (some should have at grenades) and tanks should be held back essentially quick sniping other tanks

^ depends what game mode you are playing.... an actual tactical game mode that requires quick thinking like assault zones or a dumbed down sandbox version like combat.

You dont simply win assault zones by building a "line and securing flanks with regular infantry" and than "quick sniping tanks." Requires a lot more strategy than that.

Piggy - It sounds like you are talking about skirmish.. since you mentioned medic... what mode are you referring to? All modes play quite a bit different and thus tactics change.

hi Simers. been watching some of your vids, i really enjoy them, has helped a lot, along with some of judska and strat29.

i sometimes play skirmish to mess around with new strats, buts its mostly vs player stuff, assault zones. i like 2v2, somtimes 3v3.

i'm starting the get the hang of combined arms, though could use some help with army structures / build orders?

Build order usually depends on which nation you play as, for example as Japan you would be the aggressor and most liekly start with buying 2 assault squads partnered with single smg buys, then wait for a light tank like the HaGo to really rush your enemy and keep the pressure on.

Commonwealth usually allows you to go heavy on infantry then save up for a Dodge to counter any Germany light vehichles, but you'd more likely need a matilda to hold off the ♥♥♥♥ light vehicles.

USA is a tricky one and in my opinion a very weak faction, although the Garands do very well in shootouts and partnered with M20 rushes and an early Stuart the USA can be a formidible early game faction, even an early sherman bank doesn't hurt! After buying a few squads of infantry that is!

Soviet Union is hurt early, and mid game. For the Soviets its all about Survival until the 2 hero points charge unit at which then you should be able to afford a t34/57, and this will provide adequate cover for your charge unit at this time in the game.

Germany is probably the most versatile, an early Panzer 3 is deadly, but the Veteran Sniper is a must buy in all games/game modes, having a sniper out at 3 minutes is crucial and very very helpful. Luchs is an awesome unit and counters t60 of the Soviets, although is usually countered by the dodge of the UK!

But the general play for Assault Zones is to definitely get plenty of infantry on the field early, a minimum of 2 assault squads is a must have for Assault Zones!

I've seen it mentioned on here once buy Wombat, definitely have an AT man in bushes on hold fire, or drop the smg and leave him on fire at will and he'll only fire at tanks as hes got a bazooka/schrek etc. Strat is a massive anti-at man player, but I believe it works well! =P

Pretty much whislt you are playing you have to weigh up the sitution and determine whether you can be proactive, or reactive to your oppenents buys! =)
