You can play all of the 40 singleplayer missions together with up to 7 friends or strangers online and in LAN.

Thanks for the quick response.

Does that mean I can play co-op with my brother against the CPU? Are players alloted a portion of the forces each? Say for example my brother can control the American armour divisions, and me the infantry?

I would like to know the answer to this one too, how does coop work exactly? AI or what?

Co-op lets you play the skirmishes (which are small campaign missions) with up to 8 people.

The game equally divides the forces between all players and reinforcements automatically go to the player with the least troops (which honestly I find annoying and wish I could turn off).

It works really well and you can have alot of fun with the various little set ups.

In the first Assault Squad the split was quite annoying. My friends and I would seperate our forces into flanks, and if I was more cautious and tactical, losing less units for the same amount of position gained, then I wouldn't be gaining as much of the support units delaying further pushes.

If I am not mistaken, you can give units to other places in the player list, so you technically could "turn it off" in the form of just giving the unit to another player anyway. This is all speaking from the first Assault Squad so they could have changed it?

Yeah, you can donate your units to other players to sort it out but it's just a bunch of hassle in a game that's already full of little things that are hassle (and are actual gameplay, unlike force management).

I get that it's useful for online multiplayer but if I'm just playing with friends being able to turn it off would be super useful.

The developers can only please 'some people some of the time' and not 'all people all of the time'. It actually takes micro seconds to swap a unit from one player to another. If it is in the middle of a firefight...slow the game down a bit using the return key and give yourselves more time to cope.
Proper Skux May 17, 2014 @ 1:15am
That's a really odd argument to make when pleasing all people in this case would just be to have it be an option to be on or off pre-mission.

If only you could slow down time in a multiplayer game? lol

So if a jump into a 3v3 multiplayer game & at the start i call in an assault squad that squad may go to another player or i get half the unit shared ? This is confusing to me lol.

This unit sharing confused the freck out of me and my friend last night (we are both noobs so we didn't know it is normal feature)...

Quite frankly it is crap...

When I MYSELF order units I want them to be under my command - so simple.

By the way, how do I designate units to other palyer(s) in co-op game???

Is there some icon to click or hot-key to press?
General Dogsbody May 17, 2014 @ 5:20am
Top right hand corner there is a button, press and select player you want to donate unit too....

OK I'll try to make this short and not confusing. In Co Op Skirmishes, all the units and resources are shared between the players because it's basically playing a campaign mission (only one team). When you spawn a new unit (except vehicles) all the troops are split between the players based on their current score (# of points of their current units). Vehicles just get given to the person with the current lowest score.

In multiplayer, this problem doesn't occur. Each person has their own pool of units and resource intake, this is different from co op missions which have points like Company of Heroes does so the resource collection would be insane if split.

@Nephilim, The top right hand corner has a list of all the players, I don't recall if you have to open a window or it's just shown at all times (more likely). Select the units you want to donate and click their name and press donate, or there should be a button specifically for it.

Aye--- I decided to step on the bus and buy it ;)

I'm pleased with what I've played so far; the co-op mode is probably the best system really-- units should be shared equally between players. As far as the confusion of reinforcements are concerned, I'd say it's the only way to do it really. One could well imagine a game where one of the players is hogging the reinforcements tab and gaining control of all the new units.
We all play on the same team-- so really the reinforcements aren't for the player who ordered them, they are for the team and will be handed to the player that needs them most.

Thanx for that explanation, this should be in the game manual.
