Be aware that time for gaming depends on free-time able to play games.
Weekends and holidays would be best for stats.
Weekdays would be ruined for gaming by homework for school kids.
I think the main purpose of homework is to keep kids off the streets and confined
to their rooms out of their parents way.
There were problems in the past as all know.. performance issues being the number 1 , then the lobby bug issue. If the release is pretty good it will give the best chance the game has of having ppl stay to play. Otherwise it will just be that same fan base all over again :/
Most of the games are veterans vs newbies. Can you imagine the outcome?
I wanted to see what the player base is & i can tell there is a very small player base because all the MOW games on that chart seem to have a very small amount of players at any given time.
Sure i expect the numbers to increase at the release of AS2 but normally not all buyers will continiue to play the game a few weeks later.
Also i think this game needs to be hyped/advertised abit because alot of people will never of even heard of it(i only heard of it from people on the Company of heroes 2 forum who compared the damage system etc). The playerbase needs to expand which can only be a good thing for the future of the game.
I myself try to balcne the games, but it really doesnt help.. but its quite impossible as it stands now. the calibre of most of the players now becausse they are new, i will have no problem 3v1ing them on a 1 player resource.
Best way i think is to have new playerr groups..
OR
have two very good plyaers on each team to split. So atleast there's one player on the team that can set a example.
anyway hopefully the release is smooth :)) the veterans are not even sure if they are going to play this game.. which is quite sad. I would hope that we would retain the AS 1 community atleast.
Thanks Strat29
my point was that many games are not forgiving against newcomers, that's way automatching exists noobs vs noobs pros vs pros
Also I noticed there are some players that like duke hunting. They host a room with their team adn let newbies come.
We should find a way to report this behaviours and other malicious ones which only worsen the game experience therefore the community size.
Performance being the main one effects all types of players. It just runs badly and alot worse then AS1. AS1 you could do 8v8's in here max is 3v3 normal mode.
2nd the gameplay - less depth due to infantry spam and some balance issues. Gameplay is i suppose what you call less intense in moments mainly cause of the fickle nature of infantry combat. I can't put my finger on it, but i do feel this is less exciting to play. There was a joy of destroying a strong point on the map.. because it was challenging to attack in AS1.
As above some of the veterans do have a warranted reason why. But also some are just resistent to change and just want to play it like they used to. Also some just cannot play well on the new one and get angry when they can't.
I like to weigh up all things.. generally alot of the changes are decent, and don't really effect the gameplay that much. And alot of decent additions too.. but yep performance is still the main issue. Runs alot worse then AS1 right now + your restricted to 3v3s.
Basically right now I see this game as a failure. As sad as I am to say that. AS1 is now 3 years old, however even years after its release AS1 multiplayer was a bigger community than the current AS2 multiplayer community. AS1 at release probably had a multiplayer community 3 times as big as AS2's current.
AS1 community survived for years. This community, might last 6 months at the rate it is going.
Most players are new players there are not many vets around. Most new players will not stick around for that long, only a small percentage of new players will still be playing this a few months from now.
The state right now is. Even with the community saturated with all these short-term new players, outside of EU primetime multiplayer is basically dead. What is it gonna look like in a few months when we are not saturated with new players? AS1 only survived for so long because it started out with such a healthy multiplayer community.
Multiplayer's only hope to survive is for performance to improve dramatically and balance changes regarding infantry spam to change. Even then, the vets have already left, the question is will they come back?
But there is no other agme i like so its this! and im putting all my chips in! if I cant make a decent competiitve community then atleast i tried.. then i can focus on real life business.
