2. Skirmishes......personally, I like them as they are.....There are so many mods that you can play, there are the combat, frontline, matchmaking, etc etc in multiplay, for the kind of play that you are advocating. I am also sure that after full release the mods will flow to such a point you will be swamped for choice
So continue to enjoy it as I do.....
It spawns without having a spawnable location.
It delivers pinpoint accuracy artillery strikes without having to recon etc. (command vehicle hidden in bushes etc.)
Apparently, the AI in CoH cheats as well.

Supreme Commander???

I rather play a scripted "skirmish" then playing against Airtificial Stupidity (is) Cheating Skrimishes.
So as far as I'm concerned, DMS does it right, the rest is CHEESE!
In a strategy game, where I capture all "landing/insertion points" (spawnpoints) and the AI cheats by spawning anyway.
Or AI with indestrucible units...????
In general, the AI should have the same set of rules as the player.
There is no reason to think up ANY strategy if the AI cheats.
I have recorded many games played against the various levels of AI and the simple truth is they have an advantage becaues they inherently can process and execute commands without hesitation. But most of the stories that come from the "the AI cheats" camp are over exaggerated if not down right lies.
In CoH you can watch a reply of the match, see your opponents build structure, time, unit production, resource consumption etc etc; and it is all legit with the AI.
Here is a RELIC representative telling people the AI cheats and how it does it.

(the quote from the link)
"Also, for the record here are the ways the AI can cheat dependent on difficulty:
See through fog of war (Hard and Expert Only)
See camouflaged units (Expert Only)
See units being built (All difficulties)
Resource income bonuses (Bonus for Expert, Penalty for Easy)
Aside from the above list the AI has no cheats, exploits, or any special hidden commands. The AI units don't do more damage or have more health or armour, etc."
P.S. I resent the "inexperienced players with poor micro skills remark"
I'm 41 and have been playing RTT/RTS games since I was 12'ish...
The AI knowing what is being built is like an "auto-counter".
No need to strategize, the AI has the perfect answer
wasn't directed towards you, it was a generalized comment, but thanks for your e-harmony profile ;)
and yes as you adjust or increase difficulty there're buffs that go to the AI and nerfs that the player faces, but you have the option to choose wich difficulty suites your skill level.
But just to make the statement " no traditional style skirmish matches because the AI cheats" is rather short sighted.
so what differs from a pre-scripted battle? you know exactly what the enemy is going to do and bring in...
cool ;)
Only scripts (with random elements).
Hope that helped...
