ATM I have a paid for game sitting in my game library unplayable
Even though you may or may not get a reply, Instinct would know about it when he reads it or is passed onto him.
???
I did delete some mods from mod folder ? 1 or 2 were from Workshop.
I had sync enabled for Assault Squad 2 but if I enabled it in Steam > Settings > Enable Cloud synchronization...... then start game I got this Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error.
I un-ticked the Steam > Settings > Enable Cloud synchronization....... and got this error when I tried to start the game again.
***************** Exception *****************
Not SDL file! (esdlreader.cpp, 17)
------------------------------------------------------------------
> file "@/profiles/my profile number/game_progress.set"
1: keys«.set
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - v3.022.1 b - standard
2014.02.28 18:49 - 0x00937773
It corrupted my game progress.set file. I deleted that file in my profile and then the game is able to start. But so far no new game_progress.set file has been regenerated.
Yesterday I messed around with it, even deleted the Assault Squad 2 in My Games folder.
What is safe and correct way to delete mods from Workshop ?
I see in the mods folder there is the mod and also a number which if you open it in notepad has the name of the mod in it.

How to reset / refresh Steam Cloud ? - I see how now.......
".........add a shortcut with this command line "mowas_2.exe -reset_cloud_profiles" in the preferences of your shortcut."
You are going to have to explain this better maybe with screenshot.
There is no word "preferences" in a shortcut properties. There is a only "Target" or "Start in" and putting that text in Target makes an error.
I did it this way - right click on Men of War Assault Squad 2 in Steam > Properties > General tab > SET LAUNCH LAUNCH OPTIONs > pasted this
mowas_2.exe -reset_cloud_profiles
in the box. I have turned back on the Steam > Settings > Enable Cloud synchronization.... The game starts now and sync text shows on start screen.
Even though log file says this.......
Stored in Steam Cloud profiles deleted...
Attempting to synchronize profiles...
Done.
Requesting Steam Workshop Information...
Done.
