It is a simple matter of opinion.

If you are not some biased Communist degenerate, then you may not like Company of Heroes 2. (The developers are completely turning a blind eye to historical accuracy and realism to pander to the Communists and Communist-sympathizers that cried until 1C stopped selling it in their store.) However, you may simply like it for its eyecandy and somewhat attractive gameplay and faster-paced combat than the previous Company of Heroes 1. However, if you prefer realism and historical accuracy then you would prefer the Men of War franchise. I, for one prefer realism and historical accuracy and therefore prefer Men of War. But as previously stated, it is simply a matter of opinion. Relic and Sega have no intent of making Company of Heroes 2 modable (they want to avoid it completely.) and Company of Heroes I can no longer BE modded due to a patching flaw that made the custom.dll file defunct. Men of War: Assault Squad II much like Company of Heroes 2 will also feature a Steam Workshop however I believe Assault Squad II will host full missions, maps, and I believe modded skins instead of Company of Heroes 2's maps-only Workshop.

To summarize, it is a matter of opinion and I prefer the Men of War franchise.

At least men of war 2 will not be some fascist propaganda, as the developers are russians or east europan and there is no campaign to push some fantasies of heroic german troops and soviet villains destroying their own motherland to stop the germans from conquering it. I am getting sick of all this anti soviet and anti russian propaganda lately. Not onely in video games but in general, i am living the EU-DSSR, slave state germany.

Have a nice day

Sega has pandered to the Communists, you should try the game again. Now the Soviets are not even close to historically accurate as they both outnumber the Wehrmacht and are more powerful than it. (Go historical innacuracy, eh Communist?) If you have some time, get back into it. What scared me off was the complete neglect for historical accuracy after a bunch of Communists cried and stopped selling it in Russia, it was never about the player. It was always about the money. So, please do give it another try it would be terrible if Sega and Relic catered to the Communists only to have them still ignore and neglect their game.

It was the campaign that touched the feelings of russian national pride. Campaign mission 3 goal for the player was to slow down the german advance by burning down a village, when you set the houses on fire you heard people screaming, so goal was to burn a village with people in it, as soviet player. In another mission you have to save your commanding officer against overwhelming odds. After success the bold men of your squad are shot because of subordination. Again soviet displayed as inhuman rabid psychopaths. In another mission you have to fight alongside polish resistance. After success the soviet soldier shoot all the polish resistance fighter including a lady. Rabid soviets again. The germans on the other side are just the normal heroic crusaders, no war crimes, no execution of partisans or innocent citizens, Operation Barbarossa was just a picnic trip.

In Mp the german faction was grandiously overpowered on release to augment to strong pro german agenda going on in the game. So no wonder that some russians were unhappy with Coh2.

I dont get your whining at communist at all. It is more a thing of national pride Russia is allowed to have after winning and freeing Europe of the nazi terror regime.

Have a nice day

These games don't really oppose each other, or at least they shouldn't, since they're completely differently aimed initialy, and the only real common thing in them is the WW2 thematics.

IMHO, CoH was a solid arcadish RTS, CoH 2 is almost a fail though - almost nothing new, but it's priced as if it were Starcraft 2: Wings of the Void with lifetime MP support etc.

MoW was a super solid tactical strategy with some RPG elements, MoW: AS is it's multiplayer extension with significantly, if not severely altered stats and balance, as far as I'm concerned, MoW: AS 2 is yet to show itself, but for now - it is, as announced, a multicore-adequate engine update, a steam multiplayer, an easy mod/custom mappack play (via steam workshop), some graphics and minor gameplay enhancements, and all of the above is, indeed, for quite a reasonable price, at least compared to other games of the kind when they hit the shelves.

All this above is only my perception, of course, but that is just as much, as a man can have.

Also id like to point out that coh seems very pro allies like they didnt commit war crimes it was another thing that turned me off about coh 2 and one of the many reasons i did not buy it. theres multiple sides to a war and i wont buy a game that leans so far to the right. the trailer for coh 2 glorifys the allied side and it kinda turned me off from the series
Why the hell would something, like yourself, ever play Wolfenstein? - All you do there, is killing nazis! Oh, pardon my wording - I mean poor fascists... or should I just call them axis? - I don't know any more... Well, anyway, you get the point.

P.S.: CoH 2 is most definitely an anti-soviet propaganda, and a heavy one, though a clumsy made one as well, so something like you should probably like it a lot.

i never said i was pro nazi? :S most germans were not nazi's just like most russians didnt r.a.p.e women and children when they took berlin or most americans didnt drop napalm on hundreds of thosands of innocent japanese men and women and children or later an atomic bomb. i just feel as coh took the axis and just cause a select few of them commited horrendus acts and demonize the whole country and that to me is wrong. i had grand fathers on both the axis and allies and it makes me sick how video games demonize a whole nation for the actions of a few. plus about wolfenstein i see it as science fiction and fake and for entertainment purposes only

Men of War, Achtung Panzer: Kharkov; these games stomp on CoH franchise.

I loved the realism and depth in Men of War, especially liked the tank combat in Achtung Panzer as well. If you want some good WW2 RTS's, those two are for you.

I have had the best experience in MoW than CoH, thats for sure.

hard to say both very fun but i dindn't play as2 yet so cant say but the men of war series base its self upon realism which i love so probably as2

my question may sound stupid but is there going to a diffrence in units like are we going to see units that weren't in any prevous men of war games

while I agree on MOW series being more closer to "realism" than "arcadism" and being a fantastic complex RTS

I don't agree on MOW = Arma

Arma and Mow series are my favorites but AS2 is something in between , we can't put AS2 and Arma on same realism level.

While in AS2 the simulation of tank damage it's pretty well done , better than Arma III ,on the other hand the kind of gameplay is far from realism and far from what you have in AIII

Yea thats really a stupid question
men of war games have been known for copy and paste

Well Hazard, Arma is in fact not an FPS, but war simulator. If you would change MoW to same simulator, it would not be so funny and enjoyable as Arma is. Theatre of War is close to a sim, and sorry, it was interesting gameplay, but not as enjoyable as MoW (AS/AS2). In fact, i spend cca 20 hours in ToW (also cca 50 hours in CoH1 and a few hours in CoH2 beta), but cca 500 hours in MoW and 1600 hours in AS1. I think it says everything...

PC games are not simulation, but entertainment. Both sim and arcade doesnt "fullfill" this need of good entertainment. Mix (like MoW series) does. Playing CoH is funny, but well, for those who now something about war, its like playing cards with tank pictures. Also sim games like ToW are interesting, its nice to try ranges, penetrations, etc... but after some time... it gets boring... thats why MoW keeps so many people fully entertained.

This is also an answer for the difference between CoH2 and AS2. First one is good relax, but for those, who dont know anything about war. (i mean, fake values, fake armour, etc) + not so much content for a high price. In case of MoW, its hard game, but very good and addicting, if you are "interested" in war equipment.

What ? What was copy pasted lol ? What about CoH 2 copy - paste (with a few new units) for AAA price ?

Well, every MoW title had some new content, new units, new maps, new playstyles, every time in way larger numbers than CoH (50 units vs 250 units) and for almost half price. You cannot say, its copy paste cuz its still from ww2. Should they change it for a scifi horor ?
