Men of War: Assault Squad 2

Men of War: Assault Squad 2

WORKAROUND "This mod requires different game version"
+++ THIS IS NOT A FIX, ALL MODS AND MOD ADJUSTMENTS ARE DONE AT USERS RISK +++

Right you cheese chugging chimp chasers.

If your mod is not working, you will need to change the following information.

1) Find the mod folder in steamapps -> X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Men of War Assault Squad 2\mods\{MODNAME}

2) Open the "mod.info" file in that folder using a text editing program (notepad).

3) add or replace the following lines
{MinGameVersion "3.104.0"}
{MaxGameVersion "3.xxx.0"} Where XXX is the current version number (shown on the menu screen, bottom left)

4) save your changes.

IMPORTANT -> make sure when you add these lines you add them between the {mod and the } at the bottom.

This workaround will only help you if the mod is greyed out in your mods selection list (options > mods tab). It will not solve any other problems you're having.

This is not really a fix so much as it is a work around. Doing this can cause issues for anyone using mods, they require the creators of the mod to update it so people do not receive crashes or errors.

So, if mod makers get lazy and refuse to update the mods and just leave it to people "advising" others to manually "fix" the mod folder, it could lead to a broken mod/game? Well then.

A few things.

1. Don't do airquotes, they make you look incredibly obnoxious.

2. Get lazy? Right. So you expect me to keep up to date every peice of content and update it for every patch mindsoft release (this is the case, every new patch requires me to manually change this text file and reupload the whole package, i will be doing exactly what i am telling users to do)? For how long? Forever? What if i have a life that dosent revolve around hobby projects i made years ago? How entitled are you?

3. I dont owe you ♥♥♥♥. If you play the mod and like it, thats great. If it breaks, and i mean breaks in such a way that i would need to spend significant amounts of my limited free time to repair, its not going to happen. If i want to go become a tibettan monk and stop supporting the content, thats too bad for you.

4. All modifications of the game are at users risk. Thats like, modding 101. They arent bought and paid for content and they arent neccesarily stable. They are peoples pet projects. All mods are installed and ran at users risk, and no amount of entitlement will change that fact.

5. I am trying to help you. Deltadude is completely correct, this is a work around, and it could (though i dont really see how) break your game. However, there may be mods that will never get updated again, and if you want to play them, this is pretty much the only way you're going to be able to do it.

Just put a higher number than current game patch to keep it running for longer. That however, brings the issue of possible incompatibility of some of your mod content with future updates to come.

Does men of war not like mods or something? This is crazy, the updates for the game seem to do literally nothing, come out constantly and just prevent me from using mods that make the game 1000 times better. Why do people even make mods for the game whent he developers are practically tossing them out like their worthless bugs????

Modders are able to set the maximum game version where the mod works. If they set it higher than the current version, the updates will not cause any problems for the mods.

It is also important that the game gets updates that fix bugs, crashes and memory leaks.

If you don't want any updates, you can disable them yourself.

Im an old woman, as you can see..... I CANT GET MY HEAD AROUND THIS MUMBO JUMBO ♥♥♥♥. its simple either play the game without mods, wait for an update, or delete the game and whine all day .

Using "" to quote is actually what I was taught in my English lessons at school. Don't act like you're correct and telling people a load of crap, mate.

Firstly your second sentence doesn't make sense. Second, airquotes to pick out single words in written speech is obnoxious, because it emphasises sarcasm. It is a nod to an elephant in the room. Your "post" to this two year old article about your "English lessons" was not particulary constructive nor did it tackle my original criticisms. It was a fix (it's how i would fix it myself had I the time) and it wasn't me advising you, it was me telling you, this is why the mod is broken. So the airqoutes just made him look like a prick.

You're both a bunch of two-year-olds. And honestly, saying that you've learned something in your English class just makes you sound like a wannabe grammar nazi.
