Assault zones is basically the same but just controlling more units and is the game mode that is used for match making/ranking. It is actually the only one that is pretty balanced (not considering skirmish). Tournaments are run on this mode too. The others have embalances but can be fun, but you will need to kinda have a gentlemans agreement for the other types of game modes when playing for it to be even as there are many exploits.
The maps are not balanced for assault zones. There are good sides and bad sides for each map in the game. Locations of covers, obstackles etc. are not same and it effects the game A LOT.
I prefer combat. You can choose your position, entrench, sneak much easier which makes it more fun.I would choose big map, less players combat game to any assault zones game.
