Problems with connecting to direct ip games
Hi,
having read about games being more stable when connected directly through entering ip I tried to do that. At first I searched the "internet" ;) and quickly searched in the forum here. The only thing that resembled a tutorial was a brief note of strat29 mentioning it as an answer in a comment below one of his vids.

If i open a game now and send my ip adress to a friend of mine he does not even see the game. I tried to open the game via internet and as last resort over LAN. In both cases no success.
(My friend took the adress an typed it in via options/multiplayer/blabla ingame.)

Until now i only tried it for the skirmish-mode but that does not make any difference to assaultzones, does it?

It would be nice if somebody could write a quick tutorial for playing via direct ip.

Thanks in advance

Alright so here is a detailed way to setup a lan through IP connections.

Player 1:Host
Player 2-3-4 etc are players looking to join your lobby.

Player 1 Sends Player 2 - 3 - 4 his IP

Player 2 - 3 - 4 Send Player 1 Their IP

Player 2 - 3 - 4 will not need to add each other.

The host will need to have everyones IP added, and everyone connecting will need to have the hosts ip added.

If you have problems, feel free to add me and I will gladly help you out.

Thx for the quick answer. Will try it this way. Perhaps you could add the instruction to a sticky post

Good idea +1

- add this Direct IP solution as sticky thread - but dont forget to add "but be sure you give your IP adress to people you know" or something like this ;-)

Make sure you also have ports open for mow in general, you can google them. Also make sure your friend also actually adds and applies when he adds the ip under game ip list in multiplayer tab. Further, ensure the ip you are giving him is actually your WAN/Internet IP.

Have tried this method with friends (1v1 & 2v2, trying 3v3 & 4v4 next) and it works well, so far with no lag. Should advise that you only play this method with friends you trust.
