Game gives black screen on launch
So, a while ago, I crashed mowas 2 with mods. I tried running it in safe mod with no mods, which normally works, but this time it didnt. Safe mode opened the game in a window, but the window was all black. My cursor was the mowas 2 cursor, strangely enough. I uninstalled all mods, and disabled steam overlay. Nothing worked. I have deleted and reinstalled the game, and nothing has worked. I also verified the integrity of my game cache, but that did nothing. Please help? (I know this is a respost of my older discussion, but nobody replied)

Hi (-o-) DasN00b,
Just yesterday I had an experience where my editor would not open at all. The game would work in safe mode, but the editor would not. The only thing that had changed was a workshop update download.
So I looked in....
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\244450
The folder id number may be different for you... I don't know. But the "content" folder is the location where steam, downloads workshop items before installing them into the relevent game's mod directory.
I found and deleted the update time stamped for when I started having trouble and it fixed my issue.
After reading the hoops you've already jumped through I would sugest looking in there and deleting anything you think may be causeing the problem.
Hope this helps, good luck.

I will try it! Thanks! Also, no part of the game works for me in safe mode. Seriously though, thank you.

There are a load of different folders, but they are all empty. Should I delete those?

For me it was the recent Red Rising update. I deleted it from my mods folder and from the location...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\

well i somehow got it working by: removing all mods via unsubscribe, manual deleting, then changed the compatability to win 8, with run as admin... i ran it in S.M (no mods) and since i could click around i literally just clicked the buttons as if i knew what i was doing (hoping id start a match) and waited... im pretty sure all this isnt requierd since what seemed to do it was to just ajust the windowed box on the sides. then the game just worked it removed the black screen instantly. im not saying this will work but you know if your still having issues, its worth a try. yes this sounds so simple... but it fixed it and it hasnt occured.

OK, after trying everything listed here and coming up empty handed. I just went to the exe file in the games directory and then set compatibility to disable fullscreen optimizations and hit apply. That did the trick. Nothing else, I'm just about to reinstall my mods. I am running a dual monitor setup with 1080p on the second monitor and 1440p on the main one. I am also using Windows 11.

How did you disable fullscreen optimizations?
Just click "browse local files" on steam, the find the game EXE, properties, compatibility and in the settings section under the resolution thingy is the fullscreen optimisation.
