you are trying to edit the game mission files or a mod.
You cannot edit files that are in .pak format. They wont save.
You have to extract the files first then make your own mod for it.
You would only need to make a mod with the 0.mi file in it
to change the 'emit crew on injure' ables.
So I am not trying currently trying to edit a mission or mod, and I am using the Red Rising mod. I am just trying to create a scenario 4 myself. But where and how would I make this mod, with this file?
I already know how to creat a mission and everything like that, my problem is that the troops emit the second a round goes off. But when I try to change the 'ables' nothing changes.
you start the editor when you want to continue making your scenario ?
Have a look in any single player mission mods you have and look in the
resource > map > single > folder for the missions.
You will see a 0 file which is the mission / scenario file.
When you open it it the editor in F3 mode you can edit it and everything you do should save.
That is how a mission & map mod file structure is made.
Ok, but the thing is, this shouldn't have to do with the mission mechanics, I am not setting up a trigger for them to emit. I think your missing the point of what I am trying to solve. I shouldn't have to do anything with files, that you use to set up a misson, to solve what is a issue with the editor not the mission.
The vehicle I see is where the original able for a vehicle is saved.
If that mod's - entity - files are in .pak format it could be it is not allowing your changes.
You could extract the RR mod's entities if it is .pak format and then try.
Use free 7zip to extract.
They will extract to an entity folder.
Then you can delete or move elsewhere the original RR mod entity.pak file.
I tried doing that and nothing really changed, atleast with emiting.
With the game off go check that and untick the read-only box.
I tried to untick the read-only box, but every time I do it is re-ticked when I check again.
then copy and paste /overwrite the 1 in the entity vehicle folder.
Tried, but same thing happens to it on the desktop
If you want to keep going try a free simple reg file called Take Ownership.
Easy way to take ownership of system files in Windows 7, 8 and Vista ( and 10 )
http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/13157-easy-way-to-take-ownership-of-system-files-in-vista-windows-7/
After installing it you right click on the file you want to take ownership of and choose take ownership. Then I would try to re uncheck as read-only the vehicle .def file in the entity folder.
That is all I can help you about it.
Hope this was helpful :)
thanks, that was a lot easier than having to go through files. Thanks!!
