How to add/replace reinforcement units in skirmishes?
Hey, I'm a MoWAS 1 user who, as much as I enjoy the game, really wish I could spice it up somehow with some new twists to old missions. However, the editer is a bit complicated, and I'm not sure what does what.

I'm not really here to make brand new missions or anything like that, but rather to take already made missions and make alternate versions for my personal amusment (such as playing Operation Overlord with a Japanese unit set, or adding extra unit choices to a faction for more tactical diversity).

I'd normally ask this on the MoWAS 1 forum, but that place is... Pretty much dead, and this place is of course not all that different compared to the first game (if anything, it is just the same game with a few tweaks and updates), so I figured I'd see if anyone can help me here.

Can anyone help me figure this out? Any simple sources I can use so that I can "mod" some skirmish maps and transform them everso slightly to make the same old mission fresh again?

As previous poster stated, there are many guides on these topics. However, if you wish to do a simple vehicle swap lets say from panther to a tiger, all you need is to know exact entity vehicle name you want to use which you can look up in editor, then you can follow this most basic swap tip:

I checked out that guide, but couldn't figure out how to safely make a copy like is mentioned in the guide, let alone find out how to access the .mi files.

If there are more detailed guides you know of, that would be great. Although I do wonder about changing infantry too... Suppose there is somewhere I can check.

This is the closest conversation I have found to some questions I have.

In respect to modifying or adding units etc, I have tried and understand it a bit. I have successfully replaced and added units in game editor.

My question though, has to do with the default squads, in other words, is there a way to tell the game which specific units a squad can spawn?

As mentioned above, I have successfully done this partially.

So here is an example, I edited the Japanese special forces. When I'm in the editor I can see more than 3 different variations of each soldier, and I know some of it is for trigger based events. When I spawn the units, it spawns the first 3 variations only, so you get multiple of the same soldier, the first one on the list being the one populated the most.

With all that said, my question again is, can we tell the game which variations to spawn by default? So not a custom mission per say, but being able to start a vanilla campaign and specify which variations because as mentioned above, editing or replacing the units works. So with the Japanese special forces the way it works is it only populates the first 3 on the list by default and the first one gets populated more (I really did not count them) and the third one the least. I have packed as much as I can on 3 units but it would be nice to have more variations within a squad.

Thanks.
