I checked out that guide, but couldn't figure out how to safely make a copy like is mentioned in the guide, let alone find out how to access the .mi files.
If there are more detailed guides you know of, that would be great. Although I do wonder about changing infantry too... Suppose there is somewhere I can check.
In respect to modifying or adding units etc, I have tried and understand it a bit. I have successfully replaced and added units in game editor.
My question though, has to do with the default squads, in other words, is there a way to tell the game which specific units a squad can spawn?
As mentioned above, I have successfully done this partially.
So here is an example, I edited the Japanese special forces. When I'm in the editor I can see more than 3 different variations of each soldier, and I know some of it is for trigger based events. When I spawn the units, it spawns the first 3 variations only, so you get multiple of the same soldier, the first one on the list being the one populated the most.
With all that said, my question again is, can we tell the game which variations to spawn by default? So not a custom mission per say, but being able to start a vanilla campaign and specify which variations because as mentioned above, editing or replacing the units works. So with the Japanese special forces the way it works is it only populates the first 3 on the list by default and the first one gets populated more (I really did not count them) and the third one the least. I have packed as much as I can on 3 units but it would be nice to have more variations within a squad.
Thanks.
