Scorching Sands instant mission fail
Moments after the first wave arrives on the second section of german mission Scorching Sands I am told i have failed to defend the hill, Have retried from save games and played the mission from the start again with the same result.

Any help would be great.

just watched the first video, he does not encounter the bug. even though enemy forces make it further than in my game.

You have any mods activated ?
Also if you have not already check H for objectives or
O for message history for any more clues why it might have failed.

i have the same problem, istant mission fail, at second part, no mods installed.
no messages to explain it. just you don't hold your position on the hill
any hint or help will be appreciated.

I had the same issue. I tried again with fog of war off so that I can now see where the enemies were. A couple of times they spawned troops behind my lines which resulted in instant fail. Another time they spawned enemy tanks on the left flank and resulted in instant fail when they entered the map area. On my most recent play through, they didn't spawn any troops behind my lines and I sent some tanks to the left flank right to the edge of the map so that they could blow up any tanks as soon as they spawned which meant that none of the tanks actually entered the valley. I also saved every few minutes just in case they decided to spawn some units behind me, but thankfully I made it through.

Same here. This mission is buggy as hell. And either I cannot turn off fog of war in normal single player setting or I didn't find the option to do so...

Fact is that you cannot even skip this stupid mission, as there's a progress lock. Well if you make such a those kinda bugs are a no-go.

Edit: Workaround'ed somehow...
As the developer isn't caring at all about such things apparently:
Firstly: Turn on Slow mode. Else the objective fails so fast that you cannot even place your orders properly...

Then: For testing purpose I activated unlimited vehicle health and placed the tanks on the map's north border as Ilama mentioned to keep the greyhounds outa the sector... And by saying "on the border" I don't mean in fire range, but MG combat range.. I chose the rocks formation before it in the valley and it worked so far, even serving as a cover for some attacks.

You can try without that invincible thingy, but this mission's file integrity is so frail that I wouldn't wanna waste one single minute in it.

In the end they held the enemy vehicles outa the map mostly and thus the mission couldn't fail, but wtf is happening? This is just a campaign-breaker bug. Fun fact: When listening to the victory screen monologue the game continued in the backgrounds and in the middle of the reading the mission failed after success.

WTF Devs, why such a loveless conversion? I rly hope the rest of the campaign won't be that buggy...

I've had a different cause of the instant fail issue. I did not encounter allied units spawning behind me or on the left side. If you play the second part of the mission from a save (i.e., not playing both parts in the same continuous gaming session), you'll auto-lose a few minutes into the mission due to the allied artillery not being eliminated. I'm running the latest version from Steam v3.262.1 with no mods on a Windows 10 system in full window mode with all graphics settings to the max. My older nVidia card supports up to DirectX 12. I haven't had any issues until now with cut scenes or the introductory scenes, but this is the first of a two-part mission I've run into.

When you get the cut scene telling about having to eliminate the artillery, it will not complete, the artillery appears off-board somewhere (never arrives) and therefore out of reach, and the camera inverts to a zoomed-in sky view. A few short minutes later the program is "smart" enough to realize you cannot eliminate the artillery, and so you fail immediately (the message just says you failed). I had to look at the message history to find out why I failed.

The artillery is not shown on the mini-map even in the off board areas that are shown. Even though your units cannot pass the dashed line, you can still fire into the out-of-bounds areas.

The camera issue is easily resolved by zooming out and manipulating the camera again, though it takes extra time you can't use to respond to the rest of the assault.

There is a mod that has bug fixes for the Origin DLC (where this mission comes from), but this bug is not listed in the change log.
