Cavalry is a mounted soldier
As for a mod, I think it would be "Possible", but there is no mass melee mechanic that I know of (let alone a mod for it), and so the "melee" would just be a short range gun masked as a sword- filling up half of a horseman's cavalry with ammunition for the sword.
However, if a modder could get past these barriers, I think a cavalry mod would be a great addition to Men of War.
