200+ million development cost. Less than a million in profit from copies sold.
This game honestly belongs in the Guinness World Records as the biggest flop of all time. I just don't think people realize how historical of a flop this is.

I agree, you just don´t think, and people realize how historical of a flop this is

Its a shame sony didn't just hand 200 lucky people a million each. Would have worked out better for them in the end i think.

I think dustborn is even worse. Yes, dustborn's budget is much smaller but most of its funding came from the government - ie taxpayers. They essentially used other people's money to put out propaganda.

Should have funded a few games, instead of one, lol! They could have given us a new Twisted Metal game and a few other games with the money they burned!

It's truly baffling how they even managed to expend that much money developing such a simple arena shooter, I can only assume you can't hire talent when you're making a dieverse propaganda piece like this so you've just gotta throw numbers at it (both people and money).

When it comes to stuff like this or say the acolyte, I would bet the vast majority of the funding went towards a select few people's salaries and less into actual content or development.

I am sure many have seen exactly how entitled the people making things like this act, when it comes to what they feel they are worth, if they are in charge of the budget, I would not be surprised if they gave a little or alot extra for themselves.

If we saw a breakdown of the budget it would probably explain alot.

It's not about the money, its about sending a message.

ProbablyMonsters were the only ones to profit from this game, since they sold the studio to Sony a bit before the game was released. They bought low, sold high and watched the price drop to the floor.

It's also more overt in it's messaging.
Same developer attitude mind; "Diversify out the Huwite devil"
It's just this particular title leaves that more behind the scenes; it's implicitly a race-marxist project, rather than explicitly one.
But well, leftists seem to think that Rightists can't actually read subtext, which is why they are so brazen in their gaslighting attempts.

This is, I surmise, a function of them understanding people largely through racial and cultural stereotypes.
Which according to the established "rules of engagement" they shouldn't do.

But waiving that rule when dealing with "ideological enemies" is obligatory for them.

Unfortunately, the message here is that these people are mentally ill and wasting millions.

But that is just money lost on development, think the reputation cost.
You mean less than a million in ‘revenue’

Because this game sure as hell didn’t make any ‘profits’

I mean they almost did. That's how wages work. This game was in development for 8 years.

They're fully refunding it now as well. Oof.

200+ million dollars down the drain.
