Opinion: Character Design
Opinion:
if your character design leads to your videogame characters not or very unlikely to be "a thing" on rule34 & p__nhub, your character design is complete trash and should immediatly be redone.
also you should lose your job.

not sure how many games exactly featured ugly as sin DEI character design, so i´ll just mention flintlock and hades2. (DOA slop and actually a decent game).
(i´m sure everyone with a properly functioning brain has at least a dozend more examples, but i dont want to make this post too long.)

take a loot at artwork tabs. (most popular alltime)
flintlock: there are 2 cases of the main-character being present and 4 of the not-permanent sidekick cat-thing. also one thing that i assume to be a boss or whatever.
not only arent customer interested enough to generate free AI art slop of this game, even the not-permanent sidekick generates more interest than the maincharacter with a ratio of 2:1.

hades2:
obviously the MC doesnt fall into the DEi-territory at all, however as one might recall there was a little controversy about side-character designs. ignoring the improperly jawed aphrodite, as she comes naked and the AI slop images remove this flaw.
well, where are those other questionable side-characters when it comes to the artwork tab...
maybe you have more patience to scroll, but i couldnt find them.

thus, ugly as sin character design doesnt generate interest from the customer. obviously customer-interest is something positive that every product with an artistic aspect should strife for.
thus, people who design characters that directly oppose this should be fired, as they´re directly harmful to the revenue. depending on the statements those people made on social media platforms, i´d even go as far as to consider this as an act of sabotage. obviously those above the designers who led this slide should be fired as well.

one simply has to take 1 minute to scroll to the artwork tabs of other games like overwatch or the first descendend (lmao, based southkoreans) and it should be VERY clear to absolutely every single individual on earth, which design will generate sells and which will not. there is no degree in arts or whatever necessary.

thus, since people who still do those designs after all those examples of failures over the last yeras, should be fired, bc when it comes to generating interesting of the customer, they are WAY WORSE than a random average citizen.

also when it comes to games credits: i´m of the opinion that every single individual that worked on a specific characters design should be listed in the games credits next to this specific character, while giving them a chance to opt out of being named there, in case they arent happy with the design.
not only would this be good for the customer to avoid games of which certain people worked on, it would also be good for companies to avoid hiring people with numerous failed designs. it´s simply easier to not hire those bad apples than to fire them later, after damage was already done.
