Just kidding,
classic twitter warriors and tourists
You can't escape... words on a screen?
And my dude, games are all about politics, and have always been. Just from the past decade or so, *from memory*:
- Far Cry 5 had the Bundy's re-enacting the Last Supper, and Far Cry 6 is about overthrowing a dictator in faux-Cuba.
- The Division 2 is literally about a failed American government and the powers/ideologies trying to replace it.
- Call of Duty, you know, exists, and every campaign is politically loaded.
- FF7 Rebirth (and the original) are about environmentalism and corporate greed.
- Helldivers is a direct riff on Starship Troopers, which itself is a satire of overblown patriotism.
- Every Yakuza game *ever*.
- Destiny 2 has had seasons about stirring up anti-immigrant hatred as a means of grabbing power (Season of the Splicer), homosexual romance (every season about Saint and Osiris), the dangers of deregulation (everything Clovis Bray), etc.
- Every Cyberpunk game ever made exists in a world where corporations and government are indistinguishable.
Mafia 3, Skyrim, Elite Dangerous, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Splinter Cell, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the other one I forgot the name of, Dishonored, Armored Core VI, Starfield, Baldur's Gate 3, every Just Cause game, Disco Elysium, Grand Theft Auto 5, The Outer Worlds, Fallout 4, the Bioshock series, ... even indie games like Terra Nil, Umurangi Generation, VA-11 HALL-A, the Shadowrun games, middle-ware like the Plague Tale series... the list goes on and on.
Politics are a part of games. You just don't notice or care until the politics offend you. Then all of a sudden it's being "shoved in your face."
I did not pass by a dictatorship. Luckily because I'm not in "words are more serious crime than immigrants with knives" Britain, currently.
Wait a sec - you don't own the game, like me, and you're on the forum, like me, yet you call me a tourist?
Didn't think that one through, did you?
To clarify, he thought you identify as a tourist.
There was no ill intent.
Warmest Regards
The Professor™
so does that work the same with racial slurs?
I realize this may come as a shock, but I feel like you need to hear it: not everything in this world is for you. Not everything in this world is designed to fulfill your wants or needs. Other people exist, and they often want or need things that you don't. The parades are for them, not you.
And just as you said - you passed by it. It wasn't shoved in your face. The only thing that happened was you noticed that it existed. And that's enough to make you mad - that it exists.
Honestly, I get a kick out of your gimmick, but to really make it work, you need to change your username to "The Professor," or "Professor Termix," or something like that. The signoff doesn't really work without it.
I do enjoy creative trolling, though. Thumbs up to that.
That depends - is there a long and well-documented history of "he" and "she" being used to demonize an entire gender for hundreds of years?
It's like you're not even trying. Put a *little* thought into this, please.
All those extra letters (including P, don't ever forget) are political bullying because they claim there's so many of them. But they represent a tiny minority. Every single G and B I speak to is sick of them, and every single L I speak to about it is outspokenly angry about them, especially T.
No, not everything is for me, a Coke ad isn't for me, I don't like seeing it, and I don't want it in games either. You know why I install an ad blocker? So I don't see ads. So they turn to product placement in games, ads on busses. All in an effort to get me to buy their product.
But you know what really gets on my nerves? Grown men showing their genitals to children at those pride parades. And pronouns remind me of that. They are a part of that.
Fortunately woke games fail one after another, because even "modern audience", like you, refuses to buy it.
I always support good developers with my money, numbers of games I own dont lie.
I'm sorry for confusing you, my pronouns are The/Professor/™, it's a new trend having three pronouns, this game is severely lacking behind.
Termix is just my simpleton name.
With great clairvoyance, you avoid hindsight bias,
The Professor™
I'm refusing to buy it because I don't want it. It looks generic and dull.
Unlike you, apparently, I don't decide to buy or not buy games based on what words appear on the character screens. I decide to buy or not buy games based on whether or not I think I will enjoy playing them.
Identity politics however is a whole other story. Adding pronouns to your character select screen where they are always visible and not hidden somewhere in the bio is just pandering and no one likes that. It's no different than when a game or movie has to scream from the rooftops about how many ♥♥♥/non-binary characters they have and that being their only personality is that they are ♥♥♥/non-binary when we don't need to know that info and adds literally nothing to the story or world.
How come they like to shove useless info like ♥♥♥♥♥♥ orientation and preferred pronouns, but don't tell us their blood type, relationship status, political beliefs, medical history, number of family members, religious affiliation, measurements, what sized condom they use, what type of birth control they take, their fetishes, preferences for height/weight/skin color of people they would be interested in having a romantic connection with, etc.
Because none of it matters at all and we don't need to know all this info.
