Yeah it does, on the fifth try I finally figured out a strategy
1. make sure you walk all the way into the next frame, even if you think Amidala will get shot by the Droideka, and then have it engage you from the other side, don't block any shots and don't use any grenades.
2. on your way up the ramp, don't block any shots and don't use any grenades as both of these can hurt the Queen and send you back to the beginning.
You basically just need to run up the circular stairs ahead of her and mash on the droids to make sure she doesn't get hit.
