I thought I was losing my mind. I knew you could do that.
I ended up watching this PS1 gameplay. Man, they messed up. The PS1 levels look way cooler

The Tomb Raider remasters have an issue with lighting too. Some look better in the old graphics
Why on Earth would anyone take the Dreamcast version over a PS1 version of this masterpiece of a game? I don't understand!

the remasters use real time lighting, so that is why some scenes does not look as before, the og had lightning baked which was not too realistic in many situations but it made a great atmosphere
this is what I am talking about..for example look at the movement, how the characters move...in the PS1 version their movement feels more natural and coherent, in the DC version feels jaggy and weird
You can easily cheese points on that stage by either letting the boss live longer while killing endlessly respawning droids, or do the checkpoint-after-killing-all-enemies-and-picking-up-stuff-then-suicide trick. There's even a 1up near one of checkpoints for that.
But I hate computers not blowing up after a blaster or lightsaber hits it, it was cathartic.
But much worse is your tank no longer destroying buildings or windows being solid frame with no transparency or ways to destroy in the palace level. And a bunch of force powers doing no damage or having wonky hitboxes. DC version was an unfinished mess.
Why not a new version for PC, really they needed copy the game of the dreamcast?
TOTAL HOURS DEVS WORKING ~= 10h/month.
It's just mods, basically. People who know how to mod are worthy of respect and payment. But as usual with these companies, there is no direction or appreciation of the product. Only resources and wages. Man has forgotten how to live.
This release of Jedi Power Battles sadly takes one of the cooler arcade co-op games ever made, and makes it look like someone tried to do one of those quick Quake conversions of it that you'd see spammed all over mod sites & left unfinished back in the early 2000's.
