Stranded Rig Locked Out of Scrap
I just finished repairing the engine on the Stranded Rig Contract, and after the dialogue the Ruined Facility location disappeared. I restarted the game and also spent an extra cycle just to make sure it wasn't a temporary bug or something. I got the hidden treasures from it beforehand at least, but I hadn't collected any of the normal scrap yet. Is it supposed to lock out after finishing the repairs? I am playing on Game Pass.

Afaik when you complete the main objective of a contract you’re locked out of the optional objectives. Doesn’t make sense in some of the cases like the stranded rig
I don't think that's how the Karstel contract worked (forgetting the name, the one with Juni at the beginning)? I remember being able to get the data core and then work on scrapping the rest of the ship after for that one. Regardless I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

Aside: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ was not expecting to get an answer this quickly

I've got the feeling the 2 salvage goals were intended to be mutually exclusive (since the lady on the rig gives you right to half of the salvage).

So being able to reach both if you time it right could be a bug, not a feature.
Same thing just happened to me...hence why I'm here.

I got great dice and great rolls, had scrap almost done when the engine was fixed. It said contact complete but I didn't check the chits as I wanted to get the extra scrap.

I got the components but I can't see them in my inventory. Log doesn't appear to have tracked anything either.

Strange! I just completed that contract and was able to access all of it. I did it in this order: first, as an Operator build, I explored using data and found the main hangar in the facility since that was the only clock I felt confident I could complete right away. Then I spent the rest of that cycle and half the next restoring her ship. One of my crew was good at a stat required, and it felt rude to strip the place before actually doing the work! At the end of that, I got a narrative where she congratulated the crew for having done such a good scrap salvage job as to find the central area, and returned to her ship to float around and watch the rest of the op, with a line something like "you realise she never actually took her half". Lastly I completed the basic salvage scrap option with the rest of that cycle's very good rolls and got a second story conversation where she thanked us for fixing up her ship and asked what the place we were scrapping seemed to be. I gave the right answer of the three options, which moved her, seemingly. She then "loaded up her half of the scrap"-??? I think it's a little unclear what she's actually asking for half of, as it seems she only takes half the basic stuff; that or the combination of answers given and the order of completion might affect her disposition and choices in the end, but if that's the case the dialogue glitched out on me! It may also be that the clock was still around because I didn't change cycle?

Late comment. But the old lady explicitly tells you not to slavage both locations before fixing her ship because you are splitting the take as payment.

You're only supposed to have one. If you do both before fixing her ship you fail the contract cause she gets upset that you robbed her.

By fixing her ship and salvaging one location or vicsacersa you accepted the agreement of the contract and she gets the other half.

Can you quote the exact lines you're referring to here? Unless it was changed in an update, I just looked up the conversation again and I can't find it. The closest I could find is "By rights, that building's mine. Scrapper's claim. But you help me get her running and you are welcome to take what you want from it. Up to a maximum of 50% of raw mass, that is." and "Anyway, you're leaving with nothing, unless my girl here is back in shape by the time y'are done." Neither of which is an explicit statement to not salvage both locations or to have it done before or after fixing the ship.

I think the biggest source of confusion with this is "Up to 50% of raw mass." There's a lot of ways you could break that down (I thought it would be exactly 50% of scrap/50% of components found but you could feasibly also say no scrap/100% of components or even 25% scrap/75% components or vice versa). If it's an uneven split, the amount becomes even more nebulous because the game doesn't tell you how much each piece of scrap or engine component weighs (0% of 25 kg of scrap doesn't equal 100% of 5 kg of components) or how many of either you find in total (you only see the amount that gets deposited into your cargo and it doesn't get subtracted later).

It doesn't help that the contract ends with you realizing that she never actually took her half of the haul.
