There won't be an official Aquaria 2 I'm afraid.
The dev team (Bit Blot, a.k.a. Alec Holowka and Derek Yu) have split up and each moved on to different things.

However, there are several fan-made mods that give you new adventures to explore:

I just finished the game, (I know a bit late to the party) an I also was interested if there are any possibilities of a sequel. Unfortunately after reading a bit on the developers I found out that co-designer Alec Holowka has passed in 2019, So this gem probably will remain one of its kind.
