Honestly not a bad point. VR developers are struggling and buying a game from a small developer twice is not the worst way to spend your money. Lord knows I bought CP2077, GTA 5, and Diablo 4 on multiple platforms
I've never had a great experience with Steam VR along with Quest 3. Way too many problems.
But I've never had THEM ALL AT ONCE like with this game.
-disconnections or failures to link
-crashes
-ultra slowdowns until relaunch
-"couldn't connect to Steam"
I think I've spent 3 hours dealing with problems, reinstalls & all, and only 30 mins playing.
At the end when it worked, temporarily removing my headset meant game over, as the game was freezing, couldn't get back in.
Requested a refund, the game wasn't too bad, maybe I'll get it on the Quest store instead.
This is really why we should get cross buy.
And I'm not blaming the game, even though I've had a much better experience with say HL Alyx. I don't know if it's Steam VR (I would suspect) that is ♥♥♥♥, or the Quest Link, but while it's a miracle that it works through Wi-Fi (oh yeah, another thing that doesn't work for me, it can't link at all with my USB 3.2 gen 2 cables that I bought on purpose, unless I plug them to an USB 2 port), the software, or combination of software, is way too buggy.
You shouldn't be having any issues to that degree or extreme. The default quest link software is not great for that reason tbh I would opt out for either using just steam link or VD.
Do you have virtual desktop? I -strongly- recommend picking that up if you are playing PCVR on quest 3. Make sure it is set to VDXR and then when in virtual desktop app on the quest 3 boot the game through your left menu button in the app under the games tab.
It should run without a single one of those problems.
In terms of connection, I don't even bother with cable connection. I mean you can, but the quest 3 is so damn picky with cables it's not worth the trouble imo, but it's often just a matter of full clean software reinstalls and such-- but I mean, it's easier just to swap to wireless.
Just make sure you are near enough to your router and on a 5ghz connection, not 2.4ghz.
I play this PCVR on a cheap 5ghz connection, quest 3, wireless, maxed out graphics, and it looks perfectly clear and runs smooth. I've never crashed once, never had slowdowns, I can take the headset off and put it on without issue, never had a disconnect or a steam connection error.
If I was a quest 3 owner I would recommend PCVR over quest 3; unless you actually feel you will benefit from having a travel version of the game for using at another location.
